Hempology - Victoria BC's weekly pot rally

For a full 10 years the herbally minded people of Victoria, BC, Canada have been gathering every Wednesday night to smoke pot openly and let people know we are not ashamed.

Weed is still very illegal here, but through open defiance, and the power of numbers we have had 10 years of hempology without arrest. 10 years, every week! That is 520 rallies!

Our numbers vary from a mere 50 people to a record of 800 one year. We have gathered in such politically motivated locations such as: The library, City Hall, the BC Parliament buildings, the Ministry of Health, and the police station.

Sometimes the police do come to our rallies, but they do not bother the potheads because there are a lot of us. We are self regulating group, if someone arrives drunk, or is acting violent, we remove him or her.

By now the police are used to us. Here is a picture of the police at one of our weekly rallies:

We are a peaceful group, and occasionally we take to the streets and march, that is fun. A few hundred of us take up a whole lane on the main road in town and walk up and down smoking pot and inviting others to do so.

If you ever get the chance to come to Hempology in Victoria, please do. We are in different places as time passes, so just ask the street community, they will tell you where it is.

man ive been to this.

4:20 on wednesday afternoon on the field at uvic

and 7pm on wednesday nights downtown.. some..where.. ive never been to the down town one but i hear there's more people at that one

I actually have a friend who recently moved to victoria and said he was going to get involved in this, but I had no idea it was so big, it sounded like just some guys at the college getting together. glad to hear it though!
