500W halowgen?????--Latewood.
With a halogen light you're going to cook your plants... literally. Literally. Literally.
I've seen chicken roasting ovens that use halogen lights as their heat source. As their heat surce!
If possible, get some CFLs (flourescents) for the vegetative stages, than a HPS for flowering. If you've got the $, buy a MH. Use the CFLs for seedlings, then use MH for vegetative... then, use HPS for flower.

I know it is plenty of power. ohh yea this is first attempt at indoor. and if anybody wants great deal on light..... if what i got will work then everybody go to walmart or lows and get this yellow work light. it was only $9 for 500 watts with a replacement bulb.
