    major heat problem!!!

Gots a major problem. am using my bedroom closet which is the type that recesses into the wall. its a 7ft H x 2ft W x 2ft L and i wanted to use a 250Watts Hps. the main problem is that since its directly in my room leaving the closet door open is not an option. i fear that i am going to have problems with the heat. was planning to seperate the growroom into 2. A 2ft empty space above and 5ft of space to grow. could i just use two fans to ciculate the air between the 2ft free space and the grow space and two small computer fans pointing directly under the HPS?

    major heat problem!!!

i can say try it, but u would be better getting some flourescents/cfl's/envirolite's, u can have hem like an inch or 2 away from the tops of the plant, they give off very little heat.

Hi Alk,,, not sure if I understand your post.. but.. airflow.. is important.. you need to bring in FRESH COOL air from another room...or space... just ciorculating hot air helps/.... But just a LITTLE....

good luck.. and it is good you are taking the heat problem seriously... to much heat is a disaster..

    major heat problem!!!

i think i found a solutiong for my heat problem. am planning on using a mix of HPS and fluoros. using just CFLs 6500k for clones, and seedlings, in the 2ftx2ftx2ft top half of the room. and using CFLs 2700k with either a 100W or 150W Hps in the 5ftx2ftx2ft second half of the grow room. what would be better though? the 100 or the 150 HPs and second of all do they need a ballast or can they just be plugged in directly?

also if they do need a ballast do i need to buy a ballast with a 100 or 150 W rating or can i just use the ballast of my 250W HPS?

I think that all hps need ballasts... along with all flurs... cfl's have the ballast built into the unit... there was some speculation on the board the other day about a hps bulb that had a built in ballast.. but nobody can get their hands on one... so it may just be a DREAM... lol

If you can ventilate and keep room temp at sutiable levels then go with the 150... the 250 ballast will probablynot work for the 150 bulb.... you will need a new ballast...

Ideal temp is 70-75.. but it is possible to grow in 85-90.... and a dedicated grower can do it.. you sound pretty dedicated..

thanx garden knowm.. actually been thinking for 6months prior to indoor growing. i had one thrown tons of seeds when i lived in rwanda behind my house and i was blessed with a 5m2 mini plantation filled with tight buds. since moving to senegal weed here is wack, they have this weed they call brown. its brown coloured, dry, hurts the throat. actually its nothing else than sweet sticky bud that have been dried, buried keep in really bad conditions till it becomes brown.

by the way, would it be good to grow 5 plants in a 3ftx2ftx2ft or would that be overkill? and how much could i expect to yield?!?!?
