What qualifies Miers in Bush's eyes
Bush Cites Religion As Factor in Miers?? Nomination
President Bush is facing criticism for citing religion as a reason why he selected his personal attorney and friend, Harriet Miers, to be nominated for a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court. ??People are interested to know why I picked Harriet Miers. They want to know Harriet Miers' background,? Bush told reporters Wednesday. ??They want to know as much as they possibly can before they form opinions. And part of Harriet Miers' life is her religion." Democratic Senator Richard Durbin, who serves on the Judiciary Committee, responded by saying "The White House is basically saying that because of Harriet Miers's religious beliefs, you can trust her.? Bush??s comments came on the same day that the influential evangelical leader James Dobson, of Focus on the Family, revealed that President Bush??s top advisor Karl Rove spoke with him about Miers on October 1 ?? two days before Bush nominated her. Dobson said Rove told him "she is from a very conservative church, which is almost universally pro-life.? Dobson denied that Rove gave him any assurances that Miers would vote to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion. Kermit Hall, editor of the "Oxford Companion to the Supreme Court of the United States," said ?? I cannot think of any president who has ever made a nomination because of the religious beliefs that a person held."

What do you do when the zealots you though were in you pocket turn on you? Oh, and fuck Focus on the Family, their ivory tower is located in my hometown and you can even see them riding their high horse around town. All they to is impose their bigoted views on those around them and try to tell people how to live.dirtyhippy420 Reviewed by dirtyhippy420 on . The right doesnt like her simply because she was picked because she was a woman. Not saying she isnt good for the job, but being picked solely because you are a woman isnt a good idea.

maybe it also had something to do with the fact that she's never been a judge, but yet is awaiting approval for one of the most prestigious judging jobs you can get.
i dont care is shes had 30 odd years of legal experience...she has no JUDGING experience.
i have about ten odd years of soccer playing experience, but you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who'd nominate me as head referee.

It may just be me but I thought you couldn't hire in this country based on religion. It seems to me the only reason he nominated her is because she's an evangelical, keeping his biggest group of supporters placated. The only real legal work I've hears of her doing is when she defended Microsoft in a class action suit against consumers who were sold a defective copy of windows and then had to pay for it to get fixed. She argued the there couldn't be a class action suit because none of the consumers were physically hurt. So a thousand people who just paid over a hundred dollars for software that should have worked when they bought it had to pay an extra ten to get it fixed. So if we want someone who will stand up against the little guy and protect the big guy, then by all means, allow the nomination to go through.

Now the right wing nuts finally understands, it was all a lie, you have been had, nothing matters to these guys except personal power and wealth, they don't care about you, and they never will. Time to understand how the world really works, you are fools to be exploited so long as it serves their interests. You are the modern day niggers, pick as much cotton as you can, it fills your masters pocket.
\"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will, within limits drawn by the equal rights of others. I do not add \"within the limits of the law\', because law if often but the tyrant\'s will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.\"-Thomas Jefferson.
