Had enough of shitty movies like Dancing With Wolves and other boring, Do-Gooder garbage? The antidote is older movies with action that are fun to watch, either with mind enhancements, or without.

If you haven??t seen The Searchers, starring John Wayne, I??d start with that. After his brother??s family is attacked by Indians in Texas, Confederate Civil War veteran Ethan Edwards (Wayne) sets out on a long-term reconnaissance mission to get his niece back ?? who has assimilated into a tribe. Great stuff. Directed by John Ford. 1956.

Another excellent one is Northwest Passage, starring Spencer Tracy as Major Robert Rogers. This one starts out in upstate New York, and has great Indian-fighting scenes. Most of today??s foppish actors wouldn??t be able to survive some of the conditions that Tracy and the others went through during the filming of this. Roger's Rangers were a real unit of very tough fighting men. Unfortunately, this is not yet available on DVD. Directed by King Vidor. 1940.

Drums Along the Mohawk, starring Henry Fonda, is the best Revolutionary War movie ever made. This takes place in New York State, and the homesteaders battle the Indians and British. Some of the characters are based on historical people. Directed by John Ford. 1939 (the greatest year for American movies).

Major Dundee, starring Charlton Heston, is another Civil War era film, this time set in New Mexico. From J&R??s website, ??U.S. Cavalry officer leads a makeshift army against bloodthirsty Apaches. Filmed entirely on location in Mexico.? Directed by Sam Peckinpah, who also directed The Wild Bunch. 1965. Recently re-released as an ??extended version? DVD.

There are lots more, so lets hear YOUR favorites!
