Newbie needing help!
ok i have germinated the seeds and everything did fine and the taproot shot out bueatifully and then i put then in a pot and I put the taproot going down and the seed going up towards the light and i was wanting to know if that was the right way of doing that? And second I was wanting to know if a regular light bulb would work or would i need to put a 150 volt bulb in which one would be better now? I would get some better lights but i dont have the $ right now. And thrid I was wanting to know about ventliation, how could i make a good ventliation system, becuase i got my grow place set up as and box that have mylar all in the inside and i put the box over the lamp and pot, how could i make a good ventilation system with that? Help would be great!

Hey Red, I am a newbie too but I have just finished reading 2 books and hundreds of posts on this site. I just love sucking in as much knowledge as possible. First off I am sure everyone will tell you not to use a regular light. They just dont produce enough lumens and they also create way too much heat. Buy a couple of 42W Compact Fluoro's they create about 2600 lumens each if you are going to use something cheap. They cost about $8 each. Now as far as ventilation I did the same thing with a box but I found that since the heat and light were trapped in the box the temp would go up to about 90. This is with an oscillating fan on them directly. I then put silver dollar sized holes (4 per side of box) and had a drop in temp of ~7 degrees to 83. I dont know if that is the answer you are looking for. I am just trying to help.

Yo Red Hot, READ READ AND THEN READ. That's the best way to lern what works, AND what don't
BagOnics, I agree with you on the florecent bulbs. Low heat, more USABLE light and dirt cheap. Use "cool blue" and "warm white" bulbs mixed to get better results. I am A nebie tooMy first crop is just now starting to flower.
If you READ how to do it and follow the experts advice, you CAN'T go wrong. It does take some ca$h though. So it's better not to Start until you have it set up right. check out my plants: http://gallery.cannabis.com/index.php?cat=17554 and have fun!

Hey Kram how hot are those fockers? I just purchased a MH but without a ballast...I am waiting until it is more cost efficient. I really have a small grow room. I would say its 9 feet wide by 3.5 feet wide by 5.5 feet tall. Plus I have some stuff in there. I dont care if they smell though. Does it produce alot of heat?

Kram beautiful plants by the way. Mine are Northern Lights and feminzed (I hear). I am just way to eager. I want flower before they should. I am sure Ill want to harvest before they should. Finally I am sure Ill want to smoke it before I should. I love these message boards. They just show me how little I know and how much I know more than others.

Wow it's great to hear that there are more knowledge hungry people on the board that are intelligent enough to read up and study cultivation also!!! I can't stress book knowledge enough. 42w CF bulbs are great to work with. I have to recomend the bulbs I am using though, even though HvyFuel will probably read this and type some wonderful response. lol go to www.ozonelamp.com these bulbs are by far the best CFs on the market. Anti-odor, bacteria, fungus, full-spectrum, 3400 lumen, CO2 producer. Check them out. Okay HvyFuel I'm ready for your post.

Ya BagO, u might want to look for a ballast on eBay. I found some great deals on just ballasts or lights there. Thanks for the compliments on my plants. with that "can fan" installed it drops the heat 15 degrees!
I'm an experienced OUTDOOR grower, but I never grew indoors b4, so this is my first grow inside. Plus, I am in the water Purification business and have been for 15 years. So using a PH meter, TDS meter & mixing chemicals are a way of life for me. LOL!
And Hello SAWLEAF, I like ur user name & ur listings on here have good info.See if u guys can figure out how I came up with Kramllehctim.
