    What strain would you pick?

You have a reflector? That's your problem, they conduct so much fucking heat... Lose it immeadiately. You'd be surpride how much the heat will go down.. also may I ask are all the walls surrounding (including ceiling and floor) you girls reflective? I could see you being able to close the door, perhaps even get some rest without the fuckn' leaf blower on all night by the time we tackle all your heat issues..

    Rasta man...

Reflector... yes... here's the one I've got http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/customkit...c=HLDSSP10&eq= with the glass and air fittings.

Lose it? Um... take it out and leave the bulb on its own? Or take out the glass on the bottom of the reflector?

Intereseting that you tell me that they conduct a lot of heat. I think I'm going to run a few tests...

Thanks Rasta... I'll keep you updated

BTW: All surfaces of the grow room are covered with mylar... walls, floors, 'ceilings', support beams, etc. everything is mylared.

Yes, try mounting the bullb on it's own and test again for temps.. Tell me how it goes

    Rasta, check it out...

This morning, I really wanted to turn the MH On... but I didn't want the freaking leaf blower... soooo... I cut up the masking tape that made up the NASA-approved blower-to-duct seal, and I installed a 50CFM bathroom extractor fan I bought yesterday ($15). Then, I re-sealed the union with appropiate NASA writen "Masking Tape Sealing Methods, Volume I".

The small fan is dead quiet. Well, the reflector is cool to the touch, there's no noise... the temperature inside the grow room is stable @ about 88 F (!!!!!)....

WTF?! Apparently, the leaf blower raises the pressure of the air quite a bit... and, because when you compress a gas it heats up (NASA info), the air from the leaf blower was actually heating the entire shee-bang... !

Well, I'm keeping my eye out for the temperatures... but, so far, so good.

I'm going to install an air intake for the box, then place another one of these super nifty 50 CFM fans inside the box... try to get a little vacuum going on there (so the 'door' stays put).

I felt like kissing the little fan... but I didn't.

I'll throw an update in a couple of hours... I'm headed out the road to do a couple of things.

BTW: Another GREAT side effect of not having the freaking leaf blower with its noise... is the fact that I just re-started classical music therapy on them.... You hear that Garden Knwom?!?!?! More classical music!!! A, hahahahahahahaaaAA!!!!

PS: What the fuck happened to the vB code? Since they've added the new smilies the text you're writing is super small... Argghhhhh!!! I'm going to post a suggestion in the proper forum... I'm sure they'll listen...

Soil? I was thinking of tomorrow doing your suggestion and buying:
1- super "magic" rocks (the white ones that you mentioned)
    2- more perlite
    3- peat moss

Then doing the re-plant thingy... Hey, you think it would help to use rooting powder in the transplant?

    +_+_+ UPDATE::::

The temps today have been very steady. The MAX has been about 94F, and the average has been around the 90.5's...

That little 50 CFM fart fan is really pulling through. Because I bought two of them, I placed one of them blowing air into the reflector housing, and I then placed the 2nd one blowing air to the heat sinks on the side of the ballast. That's helping keep the ballast warm, instead of hot.

Um, it's too late right now, but tomorrow, I'm going to instal another 50 CFM fart fan I bought today inside the box... then drill a couple of holes for air circulation. QUESTION: Should I instal the fart fan on the top of the box, and then the intakes on the bottom? Or the other way around? Fan on the bottom and intakes on the top?

    QUESTION: Temperature probe...
You've probably seen my temperature probe in past pictures... ok, here's the question: Should it be placed on the surface of the soil? Or should it be hanging vertically at plant-height? . I'm thinking that the temperatures it's providing me with are a little off to the hot side... because the probe is just laying there one the top-soil, with little airflow, and with its side exposed to the light... ??? Ideas?

Rasta dude! Thanks for the help... Over and out!

    Intake-Bottom
    Exaust-Top

    Regarding the probe temps...

You must understand the difference between air and radiant temperature... an example of radiant heat was your reflector getting heated up and causing problems with temps air temperature however refers to the temperature of the mixed air in the room.. you can determine this by folding a peice of cardboard and tenting your probe so it isn't directly exposed to the light. This will tell you the correct air temperature of your growroom.

Ok, tomorrow I'll cut up two 2" holes on the top-side of the cabinet and install both fart fans...

I'll then drill a couple of 1" holes on the bottom for the intake. I'll start with two 1" holes... then, depending on the suction of the front door panel, I'll drill one more... or two more... or three... ???

As to the temperature probe, I'm going to make that little cardboard tent... that was what I was talking about... Excellent. It's just, that I think I'm getting incorrect readings from that probe... I'm sure everything will clear up once the 'tent' is made and installed.

I'm going to upload some pics in a few minutes... but I was able to place the plants about 1" away from the reflector's lower glass plate. I did the 'hand burn' test... and to be honest, even placing my fingers in direct touch with the reflector's glass, they didn't burn. It was warm, but not uncomfortable. In fact, it was much cooler than my CFLs (when I used them). So now, I've got the girls about 1" from the glass... I'm sure they're liking it...

They've been like that for a couple of hours, and they're not showing any signs of burning or anything... I'll keep an eye out.

I'll update in a little while,
