Hi Gen. I have inside 4 socket flourescents (CFLs). They're 43 Watts, and they're comparable to a 150 Watt incandescent.... This cabinet will be a mother cabinet... the bif grow room will be the veg cabinet in the future... more below.

I couldn't finish all I wanted to do today because of my car. It's anti-gravity pods are leaking, so they aren't generating full force. Because of this, I had to get stuck in traffic.

I was able to wire up the CFLs inside the mother cab, and wire the 550CFM Dayton.
I couldn't do, but is pending:
A- Install Dayton to the Grow Cabinet
B- Install 90CFM 6" fart fan for the cool tube
C- Build a 2"x4" base for the Grow Cabinet (so I can fit a Sterilite tub under it)
D- Build the ballast cooling cabinet
E- Install a 50CFM fart fan inside the Mother Cabinet.
F- Make the reservoir-to-NutraMist connection plumbing

I still haven't received my X10 timers... waiting... hopefully tomorrow... waiting...

So, there you've got a picture of my mother cab, with all the CFLs turned ON. What do you think?

Hmm, tell me about your ballast cooling chamber. I've built a grow light from parts found at a electrical supply house. Ballast/transformer $55, extra large socket $16 and hps bulb $16. The ballast was already prewired. How far away (how long can the wire be) can the ballast be away from the socket? Some guy said 3 feet. That's not very long. Where do you put your ballast? That is one heavy sucker.

My ballast cooling chamber:
Well, my ballast has cooling fins on it's sides, top and bottom. I plan on putting some thing wood (1/8"?) on top of those fins, sealing with a little motherboard foam the seam, and hooking up the intake of a 50CFM fart fan I have... It would be a "Air Pull Through Cooling Box"... or something like that.
I haven't built it yet, but I'll post pics ASAP.

I just built the cooling chamber Gen. I'm posting picks and explanations below.

As to your question "(how long can the wire be)", there's a formula for that. Depends on the power your transmitting and the gauge of the cables... basically.
But 3 feet is a little short. Mine are more like 9 feet... I think.
I just installed my ballast on the side of my cabinet. I built it very sturdy, so I'm quite pleased to be hanging heavy and costly things off it.

hey Turtle...

I think with that cool tube you should consider taking a page from zandors grows.. i would stack those tubes on top of each other. MIssionary position... and let the plants grow all around them...I am making the assumption that the tubes are so cool that the plants can touch the glass?

Hey Garden, so good to have you posting here Thanks.
I wanted to clear up that I currently have only one cool tube... and I think I'll be staying with it. When I'm about to install the 600W HPS, I'll have to partially dismantle the cool tube, and re-fit everything so both bulbs fit there. I tried it before assembly, and it's a GO.

So... recap of today:
Plants went from 18/6 to 24/0 for one day... now 18/6 again. So they're about to have 24 + 18 = 42 hours of light.
I was able to:::
A- Build the base for the cabinet.
B- Build the ballast cooling box (pictures below)
C- Installation of the Dayton 550 CFM
D- Build the 90CFM 6" fart fan connection to the cool tube
E- Build the frame on the grow cabinet so I could install vertically the ballast
F- Discard the fresh air 50CFM fart fan on the window, and put the dryer hose directly there

I was unable to:::
Install the 50CFM fart fan into the mother cabinet. Not enough time.

Something interesting, grow related (not "construction" related):::
I watered my plants "correctly" for the first time, yesterday. All this time, I hadn't been doing it right. What I did WRONG was: I watered a pre-determined amount... learned from experience... just to get the plants to the next day pre-wilted.

So, I read around in these forums (where else!!!) and I read that you should::: Water the shit out of your pot, and put water ALL over the place... not just on the stems.

Duh!!! Homer Simpson over here... Anyways, we're good to go now.
