Also go ahead and add some white rock chips now, it will help majorly with your light situation.. and as far as the lava rock goes, yes it's ideal, but if you can't find it dont sweat it. What you want to do is get the bottom of the pot filled with some type of rock or gravel to improve drainage nd soil airation. Roots need oxygen to grow. and hurl that MG out the window as it's the devil of marijuana cultivation

holy shit i feel like such a fool(NEWB)! well on the back of the miri-grow, its what it recomended. i know where i can get some lava rock, but i went to lowes and asked around for superthrive and they looked me like i was talking jibersih where can i find some? thanks for the quick reply!

Just a good rule of thumb is that MJ plants can handle 1/4 strengh of what most ferts reccomend.. As for the superthrive I'm pretty sure they don't have it in the states.. at least not by that name. I have family in canada ship me the stuff... It's usually at most online grow shops Insidesun.com is a good source it'd probably cost you about $10 with shipping and all but seing as you can't find it anywhere it's really you're only option. I myself do not notice much difference in the growth rate of a seedling treated with a superthrive solution, so you could just keep giving her normal water until you re-pot with ferts.

SuperThrive is available in the US at most garden centers. It's in each of the four little shops nearest me here in the northeast US. Or you can find it online. Just do a Google search. It's for all plants, not just MJ, so it's safe to have delivered to your grow address. It often comes in a tiny brown bottle with goofy 1950's graphics on the packaging. While looking, you can also buy your ferts for later in flowering at the same store: Schultz Cactus Juice 1-7-6. This is just my recommendation from my experience. It's my sole fert for my flowering stage.

Don't even think about nutes for a few weeks. When you repot, most people recommend NOT using Miracle Grow soil. It's full of time release ferts. I use Pro Mix, which is filled with good organic stuff. A safe bet is to pick a fairly expensive (you know, like $7 instead of $4) bag of potting soil. With Pro Mix, I don't need to think about ferts until the third week of life.

And people also stay away from Miracle Grow ferts because they are just not good for MJ, in their opinion. A young plant needs the high nitrogen and will flourish with organic ferts like bat guano. AKA bat shit. It sounds exotic, but you can buy it online everywhere. I buy it on eBay. Just type in bat guano and look for 11-1-1, or 10-2-1, or anything very close. A 1lb bag is fine. Basically, just take a tablespoon and drop it into a two litre bottle and let it stand for a bit. That's bat guano tea. Just pour it on. It's a safe fert, as well. Hard to screw up and burn with organics, in my experience. Your plants will green up like a lightning storm just went through.

The lava rock goes at the bottom of the new pot. Not a huge deal, but it has been shown to be successful.

And misting is great. They love it. It's a nice time spent being hands on with your plants.

They'll also need a name. It's actually mandatory that on this board to get any advise, plants must have names. OR WE'LL NAME THEM MALE NAMES! 8*)

How long do you plan to veg before flower? And will you be buying an HPS light? CFL's will get you a little bud...spending $150 or so will get you ounces of bud. But if you are keeping it basic for this go round and odds are just so-so for females anyway, I don't think you'll be shot for not going with HPS or MH right now...I recommend it, but it's your call...

Oh, and, Rekap, if you want to wade through a grow thread where a really top shelf grower gives great hands-on advise, check this:

    http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=26100

There are amazing simliarities to what you've started. It's my grow that's now 39 days into flowering after 46 days of veg. It was a bummer because my #1 plant turned out male, but five others have lived on.

In the immortal words of a dearly departed:

    Happy reading!

walmart sells superthrive in the garden center right by the orchid and cactus ferts
you need a light fan always on your plant...transplanting should not be done on a pre-chosen date, but whenever the plant is ready, and your plant is not ready...get some meat on 'er bones and you need 4-5 nodes/tiers of leaves before you even consider any nutes or replanting...

One 400w HPS is MORE than enough for one plant. Bonita will love it.

And I'm happy to help when I can, but I'm about still pretty much a newbie myself. This is a great forum for taking a couple of viewpoints and then choosing the direction you want to go. But most people seem to agree on what to do in the early stages.

With one plant, though, you want to keep Bonita's environment as stress free as possible. It's believed that stressing a plant can be a major factor in turning 'her' into a him or hermie. You're starting with a 50/50 shot at a female. Some people believe you can get those odds up to 60/40 or better and also believe that you can almost guarantee a male with some major screw ups.

When you repot, I'd also recommend using Schultz Rooting Hormone. It comes in a small container, also from your garden center, and just a few bucks. You sprinkle the white powder in the open hole that you are about to set the plant root ball into. Also coat the actual root ball.

One other quick thing: I'd lose the reflector on that middle CFL. The hooded reflectors will build up heat. If it's built-in to the ballast and can't be removed, just back it off and bring the others in the closest. I actually used tin snips and cut away one reflector that was built in.

You want to keep temps right around 78 degrees F.

Dude, i would just get a 25 gal tub at Wal-Mart and transplant into it. Get a 400 watt Metal Halide and the HPS. You should use the HPS for flower and the Metal Halide for veg. Your results will look something like this....
