And no things are not different in the U.S.

And all that crap about how when people do it against white people it's OK because "They were only joking"....well it's just that crap.

I say if you can't take my little "jokes" than I don't have to take yours.

if your pissed off because your poor than go get an education and a job just like I have to do.....God know there is enough financial aid for you out there (as long as your not white).....

And white people don't think they are superior.....I don't know any white people that go around thinking ....whipiee I white and I'm better than you....fucking whatever.

people were all pissed off at the news media during Katrina because they thought they portrayed the black people of New Orleans in a bad light........No.....the fact that they were filmed looting non essential items during a time of tragedy put them in a bad light........regardless of what fucking color they were.

I have to agree with that!

I believe freedom of choice would have been a better title for this thread. But then that could be another thread altogether.

I agree with that point to a certain degree. I remember I heard some black lady say a comment that white people's hair smelled like a wet dog when it got wet. I was really offended by that comment. And that comment was made, I believe, as a way to make her or her race superior in some way over white people.
That's racism, and yes, its uncalled for, because its derogotory.

And all that crap about how when people do it against white people it's OK because "They were only joking"....well it's just that crap.
Comments like "cracker" and "the man" or comments similiar offend me in that it attacks my individual integrity, but the reality is, making comments like that on the whole about white people is often said referring to the specific race that has been painting their people as inferior. While I also find those sort of comments uncalled for, I understand them, unlike the one I gave as an example above.

I say if you can't take my little "jokes" than I don't have to take yours.
    What are your little jokes?

if your pissed off because your poor than go get an education and a job just like I have to do.....God know there is enough financial aid for you out there (as long as your not white).....
There are so many hard-working minorities who take advantage of any and all opportunities they can grasp in this country. Why not celebrate those who do, instead of rip apart those who dont? We certainly aren't focussed on those who dont as far as whites are concerned. I blame the media.

And white people don't think they are superior.....I don't know any white people that go around thinking ....whipiee I white and I'm better than you....fucking whatever.
Are you sure about that? Really?
Would you or any white people you know trade shoes with a black person of equal education? If not, why not? Other than reasons like "I like me for me".
We know the deck is stacked in our favor in this country. We may not like to admit it, but its the reality.

people were all pissed off at the news media during Katrina because they thought they portrayed the black people of New Orleans in a bad light........No.....the fact that they were filmed looting non essential items during a time of tragedy put them in a bad light........regardless of what fucking color they were.
So, the people affected by hurricane Katrina were what? 90% black? And the focus on some blacks looting probably means that the case has been made against black people? If a mostly white city had a disaster similar and the people affected were 90% white, and we saw some whites looting, how do you think the media and the people would portray that? Would they make it an issue of race, or something individual?

The truth is racism and making minorities out to be as scary as possible does great for news ratings, even in subtleties. We should all totally and completely understand minorities frustration over how their races are portrayed in the media for the whites.(which in turn helps shape the viewers ideas of portrayed race, which then makes it more difficult for them when having to interact with those whites in the real world - who probably do have the power)
I dont watch the news anymore because its become about the ratings and manipulating the minds and emotions of the people to keep them wanting more. Its not honest nor frank journalism. Its flash. Its glitz. Its bullshit. I'd be pissed too if I were a minority. The promos for the news always get me in stitches though.

So anyway, whatever racism in turn they can dish out against whites, Im pretty sure white people can handle it, because it wont affect us even close to the degree racism affects non-whites. Thats the difference. So in close racism isnt racism, its not a black and white issue like that just yet.

I could care less if someone calls me a ??cracker? or ??the man.? I even kind of find those words funny when there used intelligently?..that??s because I have a sense of humor.

I think people need to relax a little bit when it comes to race. I??m sick of the ??I??m such a victim shit.? Being a victim never helped anyone.

And if I have to listen to the cracker jokes (whoever told the cracker joke, lets say it??s a Mexican) than you have to listen to my Mexican jokes???fucken lighten up people tasteless jokes will be alive forever??

Why not help American citizens EQUALY instead of picking out the colors you like???

You bet your sweet ass I would???REALLY.

I would definitely trade places. Do you have any idea how much cheaper I could go to school? Do you realize that an illegal immigrant in this country can get better financial aid assistance in this country than I can?..you wanna talk about racism.

OK well than the job market?

I will have a harder time getting a job than someone who is a minority??THAT is my reality.

I??m still waiting for all of those white bread perks that I??ve heard soooooo much about.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was saying too....

I'm saying the media was criticized for portraying these poor black people in a bad light.....

....their skin color didn't affect the coverage.........The media didn't make black people out to be "mean/bad".........these particular black people WERE "mean/bad." ......not because they were black.....but because they were bad.

I totally disagree with you here.....

I have never owned a slave or any other human being for that matter. Neither did my ancestors.....that??s probably because THEY WERE POOR WHITE PEOPLE. So for someone to say to me that I some how "deserve" or should simply "tolerate" people treating me inappropriately because they have a big black (or any other color) chip on their shoulder......sorry not going to happen. I do not feel the need let people trample on me because I feel sorry for some shit that I had no control over.......racism doesn't somehow affect me less because I'm white.........racism is racism.

Or because you're white, and being white doesn't offend you even if it offends others. And you know it doesnt really offend others because being white, for the most part, is non offensive to the majority. That could be why you find "cracker" so hilarious.

I think people need to relax a little bit when it comes to race. I??m sick of the ??I??m such a victim shit.? Being a victim never helped anyone.
I agree. But there is racism, pretending it doesn't exist or that people arent racist or that people aren't commonly practicing racism in the workplace or communities is foolish, and that definitely doesn't help anyone.

And if I have to listen to the cracker jokes (whoever told the cracker joke, lets say it??s a Mexican) than you have to listen to my Mexican jokes???fucken lighten up people tasteless jokes will be alive forever??
    See first point.

And Im not a prude, I believe there can be friendly banter about race, sure. But if someone is offended by a racist comment, it might not be because it was said in jest or as bantering like you are seemingly classifying racist comments to be in your points.

Why not help American citizens EQUALY instead of picking out the colors you like???
Because some need more help than others. And there's help for everyone out there, of all situations, of all colors, they just have to be willing and motivated to look for it. This country is awesome in that regard.

You bet your sweet ass I would???REALLY.

I would definitely trade places. Do you have any idea how much cheaper I could go to school? Do you realize that an illegal immigrant in this country can get better financial aid assistance in this country than I can?..you wanna talk about racism.
Finacial aid for minorities is often funded by minorities.

OK well than the job market?

I will have a harder time getting a job than someone who is a minority??THAT is my reality.
I dont believe you that you would switch places given your hostility towards programs that help minorities, cuz it sounds to me like you completely dont understand them or their troubles, AT ALL. But at least you have a strong opinion nonetheless!
Its not like a minority will be picked for a job over you if you're more qualified, affirmative action just gives insurance that if 2 applicants apply for a job and are of equal education, that the white one isn't the one who will always automatically get it...because that IS how it is. People are mostly white in the workplace, they relate better to white people than minorities, there won't be unwanted racial tension if we hire whitey over darkie...these are common thoughts of the employer, and these thoughts are wrong and unjust to minorities who have every right to every advantage in this country we have.

I??m still waiting for all of those white bread perks that I??ve heard soooooo much about.
Do people look at you and make assumptions about your character, your work ethic, your education, or your background to the point that you have to prove yourself to people that you're not the stereotype your skin color respresents?

    No?

    Then shut up.

I have never owned a slave or any other human being for that matter. Neither did my ancestors.....that??s probably because THEY WERE POOR WHITE PEOPLE. No you absolutely should not let anyone trample on you. Is that how you see being compassionate and understanding of the realities of racism in this country?

Take your big "fuck you" that you're giving to non offensive racist attacks on whitey, your "fuck you" to the few financial breaks minorities get in this country and kindly get over yourself.

Oh, believe me sister I understand their troubles. And yes I am hostile towards social welfare programs. Instead of just shoveling money into them like a hugs money furnaces we should use that money towards prevention?.. A bird of prevention in the hand is worth two birds of treatment in the bush?.I think social welfare programs are a necessary evil?.buy the way I am currently a recipient of social welfare programs. I think those who need help should receive it in a dignified manner. I think that if you receive social welfare than you should be REQUIRED to receive financial counseling, education counseling, or whatever your problem is counseling. I understand that some people will always require these services because they are disabled or other medical/age issue and I don??t have a problem with that. They are my fellow Americans and I would be happy to assist them. After all social welfare programs are just government operated charities that use taxpayer money.?.and charity is a powerful and capable force when handled properly. As it is right now we just throw money at poor people and hope they go away.

I think minorities should have every right that I have ?..but they should not have more?.affirmative action is just wrong?.not only is it wrong it??s insulting. It calls into question that persons actual abilities. It says ??you can??t make it unless we help you.? Business and corporations are just not the race mongers you make them out to be?.In American business it??s ALL about the money. They could give two craps what color you are. ?..And if a company finds an educated minority?.then they the company thinks double wippie for them?.are you kidding they would be falling out of their politically correct shoes.

I think people should be given equal opportunity. And I think if you work hard and bust your ass than it shouldn??t matter what color your skin is.

    Then shut up.
Absolutely they do. But not because of the color of my skin?..Everyone has to prove themselves no matter what color their skin is. I??ve had to prove myself to every employer I??ve ever had?? every single one. And I think rightly so. If hire someone to work for me than their going to have to prove themselves to me?.that??s just how life works.

And No I will not shut up??lol?.
