Hello new to growing need major help

Ok so since moneys tight lately I decided to grow for myself since I just am sick of trying to find it, and well 5 bucks a day is just to much for me at the moment, I want to grow in my closet because thats the only place I can grow. Its my first attemo\pt and I want to be as best prepared as possible, does anyone have any recommendations for cheap lights and ways to set it up in a small closet? I'm only growing a couple of plants like 1 or 2 so nothing too big and grand for now, and if you live in Chicago do you know where to get these products for growing besides home depot and whatnot. I know I'm asking for a lot but I looked around and I can't really find what I'm looking for, and I was also wondering is it cheaper to grow in soil or hydroponically?

Hmmm, money is tight and you want to grow for yourself................that's how I started growing

Cheap light's and closet growing, I wish I could help you kryzco but my knowledge in that area is very little

I'll just put the link on to my set up, the lights did cost some at first but in the last 7 years of growing my own I have saved much more money over buying the weed. So they have paid for themselves many times over

Welcome.

Like Mand said lots o people with good info here.

You're takin' the right approach - planning and preparation play huge in growing.

One issue besides lights though is how secure your grow will be.

Do you have your own place or do you share the house/apartment? Some people here will be glad to help you either way. Others may first ask you if you're in the UK or US. Parents house? Parents cool with you growing? Stuff like that.

We need more details. What is your budget? Size of closet, your security, etc... If you want a cheap light you can get a 400Watt HPS for $119.00 from HTGSupply.com. You can also do this with CFL, which you may want to use if space is an issue.. Just give us more info.. we will surely help.. you way want to check out my SEEDKING First grow thread, I was in the same situation.. First grow in a closet, etc..

I'm not too worried about security, no one ever goes in my closet so it won't be known that I'm even growing, and I plan to grow indica, or like a couple of smaller plants but hopefully with potency.

my budget is really tight! I could probably dish out a little over a hundred dollars for the supplies, but if I get a job soon then maybe I could dish out more.....

My closet is really tall but its not that wide, and one question does the closet door stay open or closed when growing because my only fear is that my other lights in the room might interfere with the plants development. My closet has one of those doors where it has a bunch of slits going across.

I would say the grow space is roughly like (L)6ft x (w)4ft, and height I would say 8-9ft

I'm wondering what is it that I would need to buy

All I know is unfertilized soil, a pot, the seeds, and of course the lights...

I looked up about lighting but I'm not too sure on how to water them and how often.

Well I have to make another post cuz it wont allow me to edit...

I have a load of time to prepare so thats a good thing....

I live in the US btw and well my dad doesn't even know I smoke yet, but well if he saw it he wouldn't know what it is... so thats good, he's very naive..

My closet is also painted white, and its also carpeted, but my plants are going to be on a table, I plan to make a small setup for the first grow, just to get a feel for it, and so I can also observe it well, but also winters coming so I'm a little worried about them freezing, but I'm also going to get the thermal blankets...

I can't shop online, thats my only problem.... but I heard that you can get everything you need at home depot and loews.

I just looked at the threads and I'm actually learning alot!

Can someone possibly provide a site with a step by step guide and a list of supplies needed for closet growing, that would help so much!!!!

I am also wonder about bag seeds and if they are recommended?

Its going to be a long time before the growing actually happens though because of my situation at the moment.
