Nothin' wrong with plastic. What about acryllic bongs? Long as you're not smoking plastic vapors it's all good.

Just take the stem off the apple, and take a pencil or something and poke a hole in the top about halfway down the middle. Then on the side of the apple, poke another hole and have it connect to the other hole. Use the top as the bowl. I've heard of people using carrots, too.

Maybe I just had bad experiences.

The last time I hit a two liter soda lung bong..the smoke smoldered a hole through the top of the bottle near the lip and I was coughing up little pieces of plastic that got caught in my throat for weeks.
