Terror threat: Security tightened in New York

The police are NOT walking around rousting, or "searching" people in NYC. There are random baggage checks in the subways. I have not been subject to this. The City is ASKING people to refrain from bringing backpacks and large bags in the subway, so that they do not have to inspect them.

Believe it or not, I am disturbed by the infringements on my privacy ?? but that may be necessary in these times for safety.

Had our foreign policies been different, possibly this situation would not have come about. Our domestic policies for the security of the nation are hampered by rivalries between agencies. The public becomes confused when the Dept. of Homeland Security, New York City, and other agencies issue conflicting opinions regarding the viability of a threat.

The incompetence of much of the government is staggering to behold, and, for me at least, is a fairly good indication of the lack of plausibility for a vast ??conspiracy? design in this terrorism story. The facts are sad, and often disgraceful, but the sources must be considered. This crew is too dumb to be able to pull off a major coup in a way similar to that which some of you are suggesting. Some power brokers WILL take advantage of the opportunities for profit, but I do not think that they would be able to successfully cover-up their participation with staging major terrorist attacks - and subsequently blaming al queda.

if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and shits through feathers, i will call it a duck.

i have been around for over sixty years and have seen this coming for a long time, it is here.

you got your safety, but gave up your freedom, i will not.
in reality it is a dangerous world, and there is NO safety, to believe you can even have it, is an illusion.
the government of the u.s. committed those acts of murder, it is not the first time, you need to read more, if nothing else.
read any of hitlers writings, i have, read about the reichstag fire and the subsequent enactment's for the peoples safety.
hitlers platform was "law and order", damn man it is the same shit.
you have more people in jail, than any other country in the history of man, and your still making more laws and building jails run by private companies.
you make money off of prisoners, that is slavery.
i have been held and beaten like a stepchild by your benevolent protectors, three and half inch skull fracture and a blow out fracture of the right orbit, not allowed to get medical aid for two days,
so there is no way you can convince me that police are here for anyone else's protection except their own, they will do what they can get away with.
they are more afraid then you, hitler was a coward and so is bush.
it takes a coward to be a bully.
still no difference between, "show me some I D", and " let me see your papers"

or are the founders getting old too? what did they know...you don't get safety when you give up rights...the only thing that's getting old is that we allow history to repeat time and time again, and expect different results...

And the thing is, Pisshead, how does it stop? how does it get to the point where the citizens are forced to do the jobs they entrusted to the officials?

    nero burned carthage...

    hitler burned the reichstag...

how does it make us safer to live in fear and have spot checks on our personal property?

I dont hear anyone complaining about the wide-open borders. You dont think terrorists can go to mexico?

With the crime rate in New York, you'd think the police should be diverting more attention to criminals that are already terrorizing the populace as opposed to the ones a quarter of the world away.

Allowing terrorists free reign is a far worse idea than having cops spot-checking knapsacks in the Subways for explosives.

There are plenty of people who complain about the wide-open borders.

Since when has the ??populace? of NYC been ??terrorized? by crime rates? That??s been over since Mayor Dinkins left office. The crime rate in New York is now the LOWEST of any of the large American cities. This is partially due to the Roe vs. Wade legalization of Abortion in the early 1970??s, which reduced the amount of unwanted children that would turn to crime. The departure of Mayor Dinkins and his administration, in 1993, ushered in the better-run admin. of Rudolph Giuliani - and the extra security forces, since 9/11, have also reduced crime.

For the people out there that are wondering about the REAL situation in NYC: there are no jackbooted Nazi-thug cops running wild. We have some serious security, but I??ve seen the same things in Europe in recent years ?? even more so. Military cops with Uzis in the airport in Holland? Yup, but I don??t remember hearing anything on here about that - or Heathrow, and many other places. The dangers that had to be dealt with in the airports are now relevent in the other systems of transportation - here, and elsewhere.

You and I might not have done anything to provoke the 911 attack, this country of ours however, has been pushing our will and morals down the rest of the worlds throat, by force when possible, especially when we stand to gain profit by doing so.

The other day Bush blamed the failed response on not having assets in place, immediatley blaming some silly laws that need to be changed in this session of congress.
There has not been a canidate so unqualified to sit on supreme court since they made the law for congressional hearings to stop cronyism.
Six months before shock and awe, halliburton was in iraq, building airstrip and base.
100 billion dollar NO-BID contracts- 500billion for oil exploration in arctic refuge (yes they get money for producing from us the consumer, why do we need to give them more?) this to a company whose profits columm has so many zeros in it I might have to get the wife to tell me how much it is.

just to clarify- we used to go after a guy named osama bin laden that was supposed to have flew jet planes in to building designed to take a hit from planes. Now how come when i was watching the CNN footage i noticed dust went up several moments before the first tower fell that kinda looks like an explosion from below. Then i found out that we have alot of fire fighters and police men with gag orders not to talk about what happened that day. Then the evidence was speedily carted away so that we could rebuild a monument to the towers jack shit has been built.OH and we still havn't got that osama bin laden 1100+ days after the dead or alive statement. The war in iraq started becuase of intelligence about weapons of mass destruction (after the fbi and cia were suppose to come to gether and get better at collecting information and the firing of some people)which proved admitibly by the goverment to be false. Now its to draw them damn terrorists out over there the first expected war duration i heard was 2 years were still there were still in afghanastan. Oh we did that invade a terrorist country we invaded a people who kind of look like the terrorists do you even know what the people in iraq look like? Well the all have blue eyes and square faces from when alexander the great came through that area. Also they don't like arabs they don't want them in there country. Vietnam i mean iraq is also about to have a civil war the shite majority on one side then the kurds and sunis on the other its already happening with informent driving the shite out or killing them.-just to clarify

What realy pisses me off is that we are two hundred forty some billion dollars in debt to china. That is enuff money to affect our interest rates. Also when they no longer see a point to supporting dollar any more We are BIG TIME FUCKED!

In case you, or anyone else, cares, Nero was born almost 200 years after Carthage was destroyed. Rome fought a war that lasted almost 70 years against Carthage and when they finally won, I think it was about 146 B.C., the city was utterly destroyed and the population sent into slavery. Ostensibly, this was to serve as an example of what would happen to any given city who would resist Rome too strongly. Another city that was destroyed was Corinth, the year later and for the same reasons.

I really don't see what this has to do with 9/11 or the Reichstag...

I'm sorry my grammer and spelling are so bad, I wanted to comment on the speech writing thing, they have marketing firms running groups of 15-20 people in and out of focus groups, testing reactions to words, single words! phrases, slogans all of it bullshit, they pass the finished scripts out and by sunday morning this weeks agenda starts hitting the airwaves.

Maybe brooklyns' fear is rational, depending on his portfolio he may have some blood money, those 3 letter flashes on the ticker are responsible for just as many of our problems as religion.

So, I take it that you think because my city is under attack, and I don't like it, then I must have blood on MY hands? You are one self-rightous guy. I am not any guiltier of doing anything to anybody than you are. I do not own a house, co-op or a condo, but you think because I have some moderate views that I must be screwing somebody. The state that you live in is a joke, and so are most of the idiots that YOUR state??s people elected into office. The terrorists pick New York because it's important. In your convoluted mindset, you probably think that we actually DESERVED 9/11!

If you are a Bolshevik, then you might as well just come right out and say it rather than complain about everything and everybody.

Oh yes, one more thing Vladimir. Using your logic: If you own a motor vehicle that runs on gas, and you make money using it for transportation, YOU are one of the people that have blood on their hands. I don't own a car, do ride a bicycle, and usually use the Subways when the people that you sympathize with aren??t threatening them with bombings. Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it!

I never sniveled about wanting our fucked up govt. to be more oppressive (protect us in these times) faux news got you riveted to your set? the only reason you don't own a car is because you CHOOSE to live and work in new york, you made your bed with how many others 10-15 mill, worked 8 hrs a day 5 days a week plus commute time at a job you cant wait to retire from, woooooo hoooooo , awesome contribution to the human race brother.
Maybe you should start smoking pot instead of just lurking in here, I know better, no self respecting stoner could make that many bad decisions and still have the audacity to sound off like an ass, nor would one ever wish for more police, you might have smelled it a time or 2, but you are not one of us.
I realize that by now you probably want to start your reply and call me stupidoff or vlad, but I wanted to show you what I smoke, and this is the office, and those are the girls I work with. too bad you wont be stuffing any of this in your pipe.
I do not buy imported oil-gas products
http://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/aucindx/ I take advantage of govt. waste
I supply pain meds to those in need
