How is it not applicable to the "new york" situation? As Hitler wanted more power, he used fear to manipulate the masses and grant his police force more and more power. You do realise that all this frenetic reporting and investigation is because someone spotted a soda bottle with an unidentifiable green liquid right? green liquid that didnt match the soda bottle.



The police are NOT walking around rousting, or "searching" people in NYC. There are random baggage checks in the subways. I have not been subject to this. The City is ASKING people to refrain from bringing backpacks and large bags in the subway, so that they do not have to inspect them.

Okay, so despite just listening to an interview with a man who claimed to be stopped by police and witnessed others turn around and walk away refusing to give up their rights, this is all perfectly fine. It's rather nice of the police to ask you not to bring bags or backpacks with you on public conveyance. Students dont need books, ladies dont need handbags or purses and travelers dont need silly things like luggage..

and just why are they necessary? who wants to hurt you? a terrorist? why would a terrorist want to hurt you? i hope it's not his anger or desperation of american/free world imperialism that makes him want to. I hope it's not the fact that millions of his people have been killed over the years due to said aggression. i hope it's not because the only access to the american world he sees are propagandistic al-jazeera broadcasts showing cheering flag-wavers supporting bush and his want of destruction in their region.
How yould you feel breukelen if china wanted to "liberate" americans and bombed YOUR home and YOUR friends and YOUR family. And the only thing you saw about chinese life were throngs of chinese people cheering the government on...what would you care about bombing them or "terrorising" them? it's rhetorical, because im sure you havnt lived through anything like that.

Look, what i'm trying to say is that the only reason there are "terrorists" is because they themselves are being "terrorised". do you think for one minute, that if america and britain werent exploiting the region like how theyre doing, that bin laden or al-whatever his name is would want to hurt us? Why would they organise groups to combat americans? why would they just wake up and say "hey, let's piss off a country with more weapons and money than us!"

Had our foreign policies been different, possibly this situation would not have come about. Our domestic policies for the security of the nation are hampered by rivalries between agencies. The public becomes confused when the Dept. of Homeland Security, New York City, and other agencies issue conflicting opinions regarding the viability of a threat.

The reason they argue, is because of control and money. Dont you get it? Who needs to fund a hospital if noone got sick? who needs police where theres no crime? The CIA will scream terror alert to make their agency look like its needed desperately while the DHS will downplay its significance to not look bad...its a battle of who gets congressional approved funds at the end of the day.
You think you're safer now that the police are searching you? you're not. if the point is to terrorise americans, then any old middle-of-the-street suicide bombing will do. I hope and pray that doesnt happen on american soil, but what's to stop it?

The incompetence of much of the government is staggering to behold, and, for me at least, is a fairly good indication of the lack of plausibility for a vast ??conspiracy? design in this terrorism story. The facts are sad, and often disgraceful, but the sources must be considered. This crew is too dumb to be able to pull off a major coup in a way similar to that which some of you are suggesting. Some power brokers WILL take advantage of the opportunities for profit, but I do not think that they would be able to successfully cover-up their participation with staging major terrorist attacks - and subsequently blaming al queda.
Incompetance? You think Bush writes his own speeches? You think Rumsfeld writes his own intel. reports? How much do you know about what's in the Pentagon? i thought it was a secret? If you think politics relies on whatever notes the leaders write before they g to sleep, then im sorry you're wrong. MILLIONS are invested into programs designed to calculate what happens if a certain event happens. There are droves of people who advise and write reports on the best way to handle a situation. And dont forget, everything the public gets in terms of technology and medecine, the government has in their grip at least ten years in advance. You think the internet was "invented" in 1996? right. try about 25 years prior and youd be close.
