really bad bud rot.Bud rot is usually caused my mold spores.

 Mold spores thrive in heat.

Mold spores lose activity in the cold. In fact, usually the only mold that can grow in the cold is food grade substance mold, like cheese, bread...and flowers....i mean broccoli and stuff too.

I thought I had bud mold too, but it turns out that Blueberry jsut changes funky colors of red and blue when flowering...

Sounds like you did the right thing...

I posted a cure for mold last night somewhere on these boards...but....it contains listerine which is alcohol based so I dont think it would be good for the trichs on the flowers...so I wouldnt do anything of than what you had.

Mabe burn a whole big box of kitchen matches in a pot, turn off off circulation and let the resulting sulpher smog it out.

Hey I am really stretching here so just know I am grasping for straws trying to throw out ideas.

I hope it works out best for ya....I wish I could help more...
