How did Weed first get banned?

Make proscription drugs illegal!!! are you ****ing insane? i dont know anything about leading causes of death but how about the number of LIVES SAVED and the number of people with dreadful afflictions whose lives are made liveable only by the grace of modern medicine.

Next time you take a paracetamol or whatever, think about how silly you sounded, and stop sounding off just cos youve got to be a little discrete with your joints....

but what about things like Zoloft that made my mom's anxiety even worse and lead to her getting diabetes, or the millions of other pain killers and anti-depressants that are abused by the majority of our country.

Good point, misty116. But I think whoever said it didn't mean it quite as literally as you think.

Perhaps they simply meant that, if health risk is the deciding factor in whether or not a substance should be legal (as many Anti-drug campaigners seem to think) then there should be a ban on many prescription drugs aswell as marijuana. If this were the only criteria for deciding the legality of a drug then marijuana would be legal and most prescription substances would be banned. This highlights out the hypocrisy in the current regulation of drugs, both legal and illegal, and the biased fashion in which many drugs are treated.

There are some new medicines out now. They all have characteristics of Marijuana. I mean, you're not wrong, modern medicine is beyond comprehension, but many prescription medicines would be obsolete, if we legalized Marijuana.

I'm certain that it does more than what the government currently believes (which, by the way, can't be anything other than wonder-at-kannibis) and they should spend more money on "pot-testing" than missile testing.

But, right now, because of some nasty people, Our Nation has to spend money on Defense-testing.

I am very sorry about your mother anti, but i am hopeful that her case is the exeption rather than the rule. It may be the case that for someone else, perhaps with another condition, Zoloft is a total cure.

One would hope that it is only a small proportion of companies, people, or whatever that are motivaated by greed.

i am aware that possibly, the person may have meant what you say, but then he should have typed that. I was merely opposing what appears to be a knee-jerk over-the-top opinion.

the thing is, testing pot does take place, this is where such legendary strains as G-13 come from, it just costs about the same for a whole years research as it does for say, the ammunition dropped in a very short amount of time around the world.

I feel a bit like i am opposing every one here!! im sorry if that is bad, but it is good to get your opinions out and about....

Banning something never ever worked in the history of history - what thing which has been banned has actually been 100% enforced - nothing.

So why fuck about with all this criminalisation of everyone who wants to smoke a spliff - and if we can smoke tobacco then we can smoke marijuana. Yes it really is a few greedy/stupid/domineering bastards who have locked up the weed and made the people into sheep.

The police just do what they're told, your parents, families, all those people who think you are doing something bad have been brainwashed. But maybe this is life - we just gotta somehow fit in and if you ain't at the top you just have to follow the rest.

I think they may decriminalise it in the future but could you imagine going into work stoned? Yeh sure you might be in a chilled out state, ready to sit down and do what you have to but your boss will still think you've done something wrong.

Let's just start our own fuckin country!!

zoloft is not a total cure. it's an anti-depressant which is never a cure. besides, those effects have effected a large percentage of it's users
