My Setup

Hey everyone,

I'm not a virgin to growing anymore but I'm still a beginner. I've only had two previous plants, both of which were a big failure. The first one died, probably because of my inexperience, and the second one turned out to be a male. I was discouraged to start another plant but I've decided to give it another try.

I have a small setup that I built from scratch. I'm very limited in space because I have to hide my setup from anyone and everyone that comes into my room. I made a 1.5'X1.5'x3.5' box out of wood and painted the inside white. I put an intake fan on the bottom of the box and an exhaust fan at the top of the box. Both fans are computer fans hooked up to a power supply that is located right next to the box. For the next grow I'm going to have a bubbler system set up. I have two 150w cfl's and a small 80w flo. tube.

The reason that my setup is so small and perhaps lacking is because I have to keep it a secret from my parents. I need to keep this setup as small and as quiet as possible. So far for insulation I have two thick blankets covering the box. The fans are pretty quiet but I need a way to keep the power supply quiet. I'm going to have a small air pump for the bubbler system but I also need a way to keep that quiet.

What I need from you guys is some serious advice. I need:
1. A way to insulate my box.
2. A way to keep my power supply and air pump quiet.
3. Any suggestions for how I can fit more plants in my tiny box.
4. A more effecient way to set up the three lights that I have.
5. Any suggestions/comments.

thats a pretty small set up but you can work with it.
try useing house insulation.
but make sure you keep up with the temp.
try building a second smaller box for you power supp.

You forgot you need one more thing dude.

You need to find another place to live once your parents catch you.

What are you going to do about odor control? You can make thing as quit as you can but the odor is a dead give away.

Don't mean to flame you or anything but it's not cool to do that to your parents IMO.

Yeah, I am well aware that I'm not doing anything that I should be too proud of. But, I'm going to go ahead and do what I've been doing. Good point about the odor though, I forgot about that. The first two plants didn't smell that bad though. Any suggestions on how to control odor?

Now if you will stop looking down and me and pretending that you're some sinless person I would really appreciate it. You are a minor. To Give advice to you to help you do something you shouldnt do is a moral problem for me.

If I had some 80 year old hippy give my kid advice on how to grow weed, I would be pissed cuz my kid didnt come to me for the advice.

But, seeing your parents do not want you growing, then you shouldnt.

And if you did, and you burned your house down cuz of your setup, who will the insurance companies come after?

Or if your folks call the cops, and make an issue of it, who they gonna look for?

You are asking some of us to violate the laws....you should try growing tamaters for a while, then when you turn legal age, then someone other than a child might advise you.

Otherwise show us how smart you are and dont let us know what a junior you are.

You came here looking for advice and comments, not a "moral lesson" you're right. You got your advice.. and took at as a grain of salt. Advice from people that have been growing for many years, have been caught, have been through the legal system.. and were kids living at home themselves once too. Harddon, no need for the Junior shit...that's pretty disrespectful. I used to get called "Junior" at work.. until i quit and the store went under. Then they didn't call me junior anymore.... sorry kinda sidetracking.

Your setup looks fine, it looks like you've learned a bit from your past attempts. This is how it is done.. trial and error. Just as you'll find out that keeping a growbox hidden in your parents house.. will be next to impossible.

Don't know about you... but when i buy a house, i'm going to know what happens in every corner of the house.. because.. it's just that.. MY HOUSE.

Again, you're right... i'm sure you love and respect your parents alot...or you don't.. but that doesn't matter.

If you DO respect your parents then you have to think about the position you're putting them in. It IS illegal to grow, anyway you look at it. You want Dad to go to con college for you? Lose his job maybe?

You want advice? Here's some advice i hope you can take without getting offended.

You need to have the Pro's outweigh the Con's when deciding to grow.

so let's look at it

you could grow maybe 2or3 female plants in that growbox.. and get roughly 1 - 1.5 ounces per plant, in about 3 months. this means going 3 months without being caught.. or busted for anything else.. infact, pretty much 3 months of your parents not entering your room will be needed for this grow to be completed. That's assuming the 3 seeds you germinate are female...

What if you waste a month of growing to get 2 males and 1 female? 3 months of pure paranoia isn't worth less than 2 ounces.. in my opinion..

So the question is.. Is it worth it? is it worth getting caught? is it worth the shit storm with your parents if they find it? you have alot more to lose here than just a bit of wood and a couple CFL's.

You sir.. need to rethink this. If you don't, you're going to regret it.
