Anyone ever have their light timer melt????
The timer that one of my 1000 watt Hps lights is plugged into apparantly got so hot it melted the timer inside and the light plug slipped/fell right out of the timer
. Looking at the prongs on the adapter and they have white melted plastic on them from the timer. I would guess this is not an ordinary occurance, anyone got any idea what would have caused this? Same timer and light I used the last couple months without any problem ????
And one other quick Question Having a Mother Plant in soil does not mean you can't clone off of her for Hydro does it? are there drawbacks?
Thanks

Man you got lucky.. Was it a dual timer? What brand? Is it rated for lighting/heavy duty.. What all did you have plugged into one circuit...

Make sure you buy the nicer timers that are rated for the number of amps you are pulling off it. Also smell you ballast to see if it smells burnt. If so have it checked out.

Anyone ever have their light timer melt????
Is there any reasons that making clones off a re-vegged plant would not work out optimal?

Have you got all the right bits to the ballast/transformer thing ?.........When I bought mine the man in the shop said I needed a little box so I didn't melt the timer.
Sorry Bill thats all I knowthe man at the shop was going on about Amps and watts, allsorts of things and I just wanted all I needed to grow cannabis, pay him and get out of there. He just went totally over my head with it all so I kinda switched off to him

nice to read responses , not only do I learn but also find them enjoyable.
trummel-I am trying to reveg a few of my plants that were mangled , never tried to reveg before it will be interesting. looking to get clones. As long as they clone alright hopefully there won't be any reason for them to be any less productive. guess it will be hard to see since I was deprived of there original yeild but if you found nothing substantially different using reveg clones they should be ok I think , aye?
Mand- always a delight to read your post. Interesting that there is a box to add that prevents the timer from melting. The timer I used was good for 15 amp 1550 watts so should not have melted running a 9 amp 1000 watt light unless I am missing something. not much of an electrician myself. Wonder what the box was though? been running about 23 amp + my computer off of a 30 amp breaker don't think that it is overloaded?
Thanks,
Bill

Anyone ever have their light timer melt????
Hello Bill
Me again ....................well my daughter brought the camera back tonight. Anyway my son did some photo's of the lamp stuff, so you can see that box thing. It says timer and power in on one side and power out on the other.
I honestly have no idea what it is but the man in the shop seemed to think it was important

Oh I didn't go out to do the pics because I've got a really horrible cold
