Curing your bud is a waste of time

Don't shoot me before reading the whole thread please

I love the taste and smell of great herb when smoked too!

I'm sure many here must think I'm so wasted or stupid I've lost my mind...

If you have harvested a decent crop you know how many hours of work there is put into clipping n snipping your bud just to dry it.

Then more time wasted on curing it...

I don't have waste my time on curing because I use a vaporizer.

If you don't know what one is read up on them and stop wasting 1/2 to 2/3 of your herb that goes up in smoke! Not to mention the butt kicking buzz a vaporizer delivers compared to all other ways I've used herb except eating it. If you eaten herb and got totally wasted - that's what you get with a vaporizer. Not to mention the fact that I prefer to keep my lungs healthy.

The reason I say curing is a waste of time is because the use of a vaporizer makes your herb taste just fine uncured. I have even gotten a great buzz just from the stupid leaves from my last grow and they tasted okay and not harsh.

Soooooo, for me time is money and time is for my kick back time which I don't think messing with the herb is so much fun, and I'd rather vap it and go do something interesting like make music!

    Okay fire away -

I have finished my research here and can now complete my book - BTW - I\'m a male author, not a female. All photos that I put up here were from a site I found on the internet. I haven\'t ever smoked pot or grown anything except regular fruit or vegetables when I was a kid.

I hope you all don\'t get caught growing pot most of you seem like decent people. I\'ve never used pot, but so far my research points to the idea that pot \"seems\" to be less dangerous than booze.

Yeah, I enjoy the actual smoking part of getting high as well. So no vaps for me..and I don't seem to waste that much smoke, even when i used a normal bowl. Maybe a hit or so at MOST. (small one, at that) Out of a bowl that is, not a bong style hit.

    Here here!

Ed Rosenthal & Mel Frank say that curing is a completely optional technique. No bud should HAVE to be cured.. it is a process that is very tideous and can actually decrease the quality of bud, mold it..etc.. if done improperly.

A Top quality strain shouldn't have to be cured.

P.s A vaporizer has nothing to do with the actual growing process...therefore...it makes no difference on wether you use a vaporizer or smoke a joint. Curing changes the taste of the bud...

I suspect what we have here is a misunderstanding or perhaps a difference in
definition. Not even an industrial strength vaporizer can fire up a bud seconds
after it has been separated from itā??s stalk. Some drying is required, for almost any
form of cannabis consumption. I have chewed buds fresh off the plant, with some
interesting results. Yes very stony but a taste more like chewing hay. With a little
drying buds gain quite a bit in flavor as well as being easier to manipulate. So Iā??m
not quite sure what you mean by ā??curingā?. In my gardens we trim buds as they
ripen and then hang them in a warm dark place with good air flow for a few days.
As not all the buds ripen at once we are smoking some before we have cut the
last off the bush. Of course we use a regenerative system where we never kill the
plant. We only trim 70% or so and then reset the lights to 20 and 4. After a week
to ten days of that we reset the lights to 12 and 12 and the plants give us another
FULL harvest in 45 to 60 days depending on the strain we are using. If you donā??t
dry the buds thoroughly before storage they begin to mold pretty badly in a couple
of days and then they really are useless.
I make no attempt to affect the flavor of the herb, thatā??s the point of growing a
particular strain, the flavor is in the genetics. When I smoked swag I remember
putting some orange peel into a bag or spraying coca cola over uprooted plants.
Once I started growing name brand strains from reputable Dutch seed banks I
never found any reason to do anything but dry my buds. But then I like the flavor
of a well rolled joint. No flavored papers and no bleach or glue. Just plain thin rice
    papers.
I have tried vaporizers and agree that they do give a hell of a buzz and seem to
give a more efficient smoke, but I spend a lot of time where there is no electricity
and itā??s not worth it to haul a generator and all that stuff just for the vaporizer.
Properly dried and well rolled a good joint is not wasteful and very effective. And
my grandchildren are always impressed when I turn out perfect joints every time.
    thanks for reading

Curing your bud is a waste of time

Curing isn't needed, but for myself, a personal grower, I want my hard work, time and patience, lots and lots of patience, to be a good smoke, potency and taste. I do only about a 4-7day cure anyways. I don't like the long cures as I find it pointless, and the 'freshness' of the buds goes down greatly.

For commercial, or growers who sell, yes, I agree, curing is not needed as much. Time is money.

Doctor G. I'm sorry I'm still trying to find the time to read your other articles... I just got some free time up and finally got to work on my music. I promise I'll read them soon!

Nochowderforyou, I can certainly see your point! When my first grow when hermi I dreaded manicuring 5 plants worth muchless curing it. All I could think of was how I longed to play in the sticky mess of Sensi AND at least this was the first time in my life I don't have to go buy it and I have enough to last about a year if I had to slow up a bit... But my new grow is close 3 months into it with duel 400 hps so I'm getting anxious to get to the finish line! Just now seeing the first white hairs...

Have you tried the GROWZILLA hoods? two bulbs in one hood, a 1,000 hps and a 400 mh really effective and one hood will cover an honest 10x10. Really a great system for the serious grower.
Hope your efforts continue to reward you.
