SOAP in Calgary a Success!

SOAP in Calgary was a success! We are very pleased with the turn out with only 9 days of promoting the rescheduled date due to poor weather on the original date. 33 people. lots of signs and flyer's and lots of horns being honked and shouts of support as thousands drove by the protest. Not only that this is Calgary which is very, very unlike Vansterdam or TO down east.

We did get some low quality video / audio with a hand held Sony digital video cam corder.
A nice lady that came to SOAP in Calgary used up a roll of 35mm film too.
We will be sharing the video and pictures in the near future.

I stood out on the corner yelling and holding a You are a victim of the drug war sign (see attached picture).
We also had people on a megaphone we rented. Everyone agreed i did not need a megaphone as i was loud and proud enough with out it.

Some of the more interesting things that happened...
Grant Krieger - http://kriegerfoundation.com/ Calgary's very own kannabis warrior (10 years of court cases with more still on going), healer, medical kannabis Krieger Foundation founder was there to show support and speak to the crowd and has and will continue to support our efforts for the Vancouver 3 and kannabis community as a whole. We have some of his kannabis cook books we are going to give away in the near future too! $100.00 donation directly to http://kriegerfoundation.com/ will get you a free http://kriegerfoundation.com/ cook book too. Additionally everyone was finding packets of kannabis seeds even passers by were walking away with packets of kannabis seeds they found somewhere.

We distributed well over a thousand flyer's, educational, Marc Emery, Stop Marijuana Prohibition Now, Kreiger Foundation and Health Canada kannabis medical forums, etc...

I need to at least mention the two head shops that did come to and donate prizes to Calgary SOAP and have and still do support ours efforts for the Vancouver 3 and the kannabis community as a whole.
Bongs & Such Ltd, they have gotten many signatures on Marc Emery petitions for us. We will mail them all to BCMP. I have not counted them all yet but there are well over 150 signatures if not hundreds more then that. Pages and pages of them.
Bongs & Such Ltd, lots of T-Shirts, pipes, bongs, digital scale, stickers and much more. They were making sure all their customers were getting our SOAP protest posters and continue to give out Marc Emery flyer's (the ones by Dana Larsen) at both their stores in Calgary to all their customers.

Next Level T-Shirts and a bong, They were making sure all their customers were getting our SOAP protest posters and continue to give out Marc Emery flyer's (the ones by Dana Larsen) at their store in Calgary. Five other local head shops are also handing out Marc Emery flyer's (Dana Larsen) for us.
One other head shop has and still is getting signatures on the Marc Emery petition for us as well.

Two policeman on bikes rode around us for a minute or so and then left, i missed them (to busy yelling at passing cars and waving my sign) but was told about them later. The two police cars that drove by i made sure i showed them my you are a victim of the drug war sign, pointed at them and yell you are a victim of the drug war too as them sat at the red traffic light.

Calgary420.ca committee is just getting started we will continue the fight until all the kannabis madness comes to an end once and for all!
We are are already planning a BQ in the near future and looking towards Million Marijuana March in May 2006 and beyond. Lots more to come from us!!!

One fellow asked me if i was from Montreal. He seen Stinky (Skunk T-Shirt) and recognized it right away. We talked about how we both enjoy Skunk magazine of course.

Lastly (finally eh) Thank you to James for picking up my wifes leather jacket with all her ID and other plastic that she left behind. James contacted Grant Kreiger and got Debbie her jacket and ID back to her.

sedative ocean got me started when she stood LOUD & PROUD on the curb with megaphone in hand telling everyone with in ear shot about kannabis the medical values and so much more. A Canadian native singing a native prayer through the megaphone was very moving for all of us.

A Canadian native said a native prayer using the megaphone thanking the great spirit for sharing her medicine with us.
