lol Yeah, biology books add words like "fate" I guess to make science more appealing. But what they mean is that it is inevitable that every species will go exinct. If we think of the human body as a vessel for genes to express themselves, and that because the human body must die because of natural processes like oxidation, the genes survive through reproduction. But when we pass on our genes, the new genetic combination of our offspring is different from us, but in a sense some of the original genes live on.

In the same way, the sum total of all the genes from a species will eventually be inherited into a new species, the goal being that a new species is perhaps more adapted to its environment.
