    Crappy Bubbles...

    Hello,

I started today to experiment with a bubbler setup inside a 6" pot. Here's what I've got:

    - 6" pot
    - 4" air stone
    - air pump with dual outlets.

Now, I plumbed both air outlets with a "T", so now I've got one outlet... When I drop the airstone into the pot, it does make bubbles, but kind of shitty.

Not what I was expecting. For these bubbles to be able to help a plant, I would have to have the plant either immersed in the solution, or just barely over the surface of the solution....

What I mean is, my bubbles aren't powerfull enough to 'pop' and send water flying through the air to hit my yet-unborn roots...

Please, options... Could it be my air pump? It's new. Dual outlets. The biggest model they had... ???

    Thanks for the input!

You should try to use about 3 or 4 of the 4" stones. The more the better check the lines one at a time you could have a clog or a bad stone.

    Excellent!

    Thanks Zandor....

I think I've got my problem... everything is new... so, I think the culprit is the air stone. I bought the cheap $1.20 one.... I should have bought the $7 one.

Anyway, I'll buy one of the costly ones and see how it fares against the one I have.... If it does substantially better, then I'll buy 2 or 3 more.

    Thanks Zandor!

Also, raise your water level up an inch or two so that it is touching the bottom of the roots. The roots will grow towards the water, but you may need to help it out for the first few days.

You want the water close but not touching the plant roots they still need to get oxygen.
