Welcome Teresa! I think a lot of that stuff changes when you become a parent, too. My oldest 2 kids are in school and involved in activities at school...I'm even thinking about maybe, possibly, joining the PTA (oh, my God I can't believe I just said that). I notice moms checking other moms out, looking at the car they drive, clothes, etc. Anyway, it's totally ridiculous since we're all adults, but it goes on. It seems that more of us mothers at the school are tattooed but not so many pierced. My husband asked me to remove my tongues ring and look like "someone's mother" and I agreed ( if he could just erase my tendecy to color my hair pink, purple or blue, he'd be really happy). But tattoos are always on my mind. Where I want to place them, what kind of art I'd like. I only have a couple but I plan on more.

i think it's unreasonable to ask a person to restrain from expressing themselves. and as far as being a mother, i remember the coolest mothers were those who had tats or piercings and most of all would smoke with us. it's rediculous that adult women still do the high school "oh my god look what she's wearing!" thing, but hey, thats life.
