Hello Bill I've remembered now what I heard about the dark period, it was after the plants had been cut, something about hanging them whole in total darkness for a few days before "sorting" them for drying.
I have no idea what difference that would make to be honest ?.

I'm affraid I haven't heard of putting them in total darkness before harvesting ethier
I always keep the light on right up to cutting.

I'm sure there are lots of other thoughts and ideas on this subject, It's always good to read them


I think my main fault with harvesting is that I cut too soon. Due to lack of patience on my part.
I was a little forced on the last crop though, there was a little seeding on a couple of plants and then there was a touch of bud rot on one.
However bud rot shouldn't be any problem on this next grow because of the time of year. Also this variety usually does quite well and I've never had any seeding on it (yet )


It's intresting to hear and prehaps try some of the different methods
