help with seedlings

i have an outdoor seedling(not even sure if its m or f) and it seems to be healthy.
i read on overgrow.com that in order to strengthen the stem (mine's pretty weak) i should bend it back and forth.
my problem is i dont know how much or how often i should bend my stem.
anyone else familiar with this?
