Are you talking about cleaning it after every usage? If so, that's going to get very tedious.. My advice is to not worry about the smell too much. I would just put it in a sock or something. Is it a glass piece? A lot of people recommend boiling them in water or soaking them in alcohol for awhile.
If you want *unbreakable*, you need a metal pipe, which most people hate. Metal is kind of becoming taboo these days, haha - personally, most people I know have shattered at least one piece. Spring for some strong glass, or don't smoke over a hard surface, right?
