another victory as Afghans head back to POLLS.
Nope, the Taliban is still around. The US just restored the Northern Alliance as the ruling fundamentalist warlords in the country. But they're letting some of the Taliban stay around so the Pakistani pipeline can't get completed.

I fail to see how 9/11 justified replacing one set of brutal fundamentalist warlords with another. Especially when our previous experience in trying that put into power a brutal fundamentalist government called the Taliban (who'd a thunk?). Whatever the best solution is, bombing innocent people (and thereby creating more people angry enough to resort to terrorism) and forcing ANOTHER oppressive fundamentalist theocracy on them is one of the worst ways of addressing the problem.
Remember, your government trained and funded both Al-Qaeda and the Taliban. What makes you think the US government has any business in Afghani politics with that kind of reputation?

You know, it's a serious psychological condition to always have to remind yourselves how high and mighty you are. You cause death and misery all over the world (edit: oh yeah, I almost forgot, in your own country too!), and then you suck each others' dicks when you pretend to clean it all up. Nice way of doing things...

I know they have an army and I know they appreciate the U.S. and Great Britain watching their backs. How long do you think they would have stayed safe against the U.S.S.R. if it wasn't for us?

Well, they were about as "safe" as you can be when the entire world is under the constant threat of nuclear war. Frankly, I don't think the Soviets would have cared much about Canada if they followed a more neutral path like India or Egypt rather than allying themselves explicitly with the US. But such historical speculation is beside the point. Right now they don't really need protecting since they don't have any real significant external threats.
