Throw Away Your Televisions
Why is it that characters in comedies are completely oblivious to the fact that everybody around them either cracks a joke every 20 seconds or gets into a whacky situation with hilarious consequences?
Or is it that comedy shows are more like reality TV, except real life doesn't have an audience (or recording) full of people laughing every time something supposedly amusing happens, so we don't actually notice how funny our every day lives are? And if this is the case then what is the point in comedy shows? If life is really that funny then wouldn't comedy shows be obselete?
So it must be the former; that characters in comedy shows are exaggerations of real life people. We all know this, but don't they know it? I mean we're supposed to believe that the people in TV world are real people, it's all part of the illusion. If we didn't believe them to be somewhat real then we wouldn't be interested enough to watch, but if these characters are supposedly real then why do they never realise how funny they are, and everybody around them?
On a similar note, when an actor is playing a role in a movie or TV show how come the character they are playing never sees the actor playing them in other movies or TV shows? For example, Brad Pitt and Edward Norton play the characters Tyler Durden and "Jack" respectively. So why is it that Jack and Tyler never walk past a TV that's playing a Brad Pitt movie like The Mexican, or an Edward Norton movie such as American History X or Red Dragon? Or maybe they do but they don't notice it? But what if they did notice it? I've wondered this a few times.. usually when high.

Good point. That would be cool it you were watching A Simple Plan and you see Billy Bob Thorton sitting there watching Pushing Tin on T.V. Now you're making me wonder why they don't do that. Oh yeah, I'm stoned.

You, my friend, have a tendency to blow my fucking mind.
I feel like Donald sutherland just calmly and politely asked "would anyone like to smoke some pot?" and you're that kid talking about a universe in his fingernail.

Because it's TV, it's not real thats why indiana jones never takes a shit. Their oblivious to the "joke" in comedies because it's a script and their just following it. There probaley is a comedy where the actors laugh at each other. And why would actors see them selves on tv, usually their not even in the same country, perios of time or dimension, when they're ACTING. But to be honest I don't get how you don't get that TV isn't real simple as that.....
How about asking yourself if you've never seen in side your own body how to you know it's not all a sharade and that your chest contains 20 little smurfs controlling you?

Never heard of it, man... What is it? Is it something you've mentioned before? Because you have to realise that my memory span is about this <-------> long.
