anybody know what's wrong with my computer?

Ok, so I've had these problems with my computer forever, and I know it's not the work of malware as it happened after installing windows XP (I had ME before). anywhoo, it's all just become worse and I dont' know how to fix any of it, just fresh out of ideas .

1. I can't right click anything. if I right click, nothing happens.

2. I can't click those boxes where you put in a checkmark. IE "always perform this action *little box*". this is really a problem since I can't check any of the "I agree to the above terms" boxes, hence I can't install adaware and many other programs. This is the newest problem, which occured after a uninstalled most of my programs today and tried to reinstall them. ..

3. I don't have ctrl-alt-del anymore. if I press the buttons, nothing happens.

4. Don't have ctrl-alt-esc either, same problem.

5. everytime I try to run scandisk, it says I should restart because another process is writing to the drive, then asks if I want it to scan next start up. I say yes, restart the computer, then scandisk starts and says "scandisk is running, it is recommended you let it finish" then for no reason says "scandisk canceled by user" even though I didn't press anything.

6. when I ask my norton disk doctor to run on next startup, it only runs after I'm fully logged in, then gives me the same error message about having to restart my system for norton DD to work. I attribute this to norton being an overall useless program however.

so as you can see, my computer's just full of surprises. time to call up the excorcist.

Well if I were in your situation I would just format the comp.. Install firewall + anti virus software also go to download.com and search for Spybot search and destroy it will help with Spyware.

Yeah.. I'd just reformat the hard drive and reinstall everything. It's a pain, I know.. but that should help.

That's actually what I was trying to do earlier today. But even after I deleted all my programs, it kept saying I can't reformat because another process is writing to the drive, that includes windows which I can't see any way of shutting down while going into open my D drive.

Reformat and do a fresh install of your OS.
I have to re-do my whole system every 6 months or so, Jest save all your bookmarks and anything important to you. what helps alot is to have another hard drive to copy over everything you want to keep.

If you can boot to your windows Xp cd It will Give you an option to Format your drive.

You might have to press the Delete key right when your computer comes on to get into the bios and change it to boot to cd. and then back when done.
