It depends on what manufacturing company the local drug stores order their drugs from. So Methadone could be orange in one town and blue in the other, so on and so on. When I worked at a pharmacy as a Certified pharmacy tech. I would ask the pharmacist for the key that opens the narcotic or CII cabinet, cuz any drug thats a CII it has to be under lock and key, well Id pretend like I had a Rx to fill and Id be counting out some methadone 10mg for someone getting like 30 pills, so Id just count out 50, slip the 30 for the customer in the bottle, and slip the extra 20 i counted into my pocket. Id take 4 at one time and get all nice and fucked...
