White thieves were portrayed as foragers while black thieves were called looters by the media. False stories of rapes, murders and assaults became prevalent at the Superdome and the Convention Center, even causing some relief efforts to be delayed or suspended. Everybody seemed to believe them because, I guess, that's just seemed like what "them niggers" do.

I also find it peculiar that the floodwalls along the 17th Street Canal only broke on the New Orleans (majority Black) side and not on the Metairie (largely white) side. Then again, that's not so strange. In any American city, poor black neighborhoods always have the worst infrastructure, which like it or not, is a form of racism. Racism by complacency.

But as for the black faces we all saw on TV, well I firmly believe that had those been white faces, they wouldn't have been there alone nearly as long. For whatever reason, those in charge didn't really seem to have the motivation to go help them. They said the people couldn't be reached even though miraculously the media and Harry Connick Jr. were able to get there. It wasn't until an outcry arose from everyday citzens across the country that help finally started to arrive. Again, racism by complacency.

And I think someone could write a book on the policies that made those people poor and unable to evacuate to begin with. They're not brazenly racist, but they certianly reek with it.

what are you talking about? those blackies chose not to go to an auto mart and buy a car to evacuate in. they chose not to learn how to drive buses and evacuate.

and who needs any actual evidence of snipers and gangs of looters? hearsay's just as good as the truth.

isnt it...?
