whats the most importants about lights???

ok so ive asked sooo many questions on lighting and my question has not been entirely answered. ive ordered seeds off of the internet already and I just want to know what i need in a lights bulb. like if i go into home depot then i need to know what to look for. like how many lummes, if HPS lights will do the job well, and what else i should look for in a lights??? my dad also has two 500 watt lights in the garage for doing jobs or somethin like that. they are really brite but they give off alot of heat. will they be good for any part of the plants growth even if i have to have them a good distance away from the plant? also i dont like to order off of the internet so i was hopen home depot could help me out aven if i have to get 5 lights lol. if anyone could help me out then that would be most appreciated!!! thanks

The reasoning is this... T5 doesn't get hot and can be kept close to the tops of the plants!!!

Are you serious.. That is worth looking into. Does it have the LUMENS? that is the most important thing. I would Really like to hear about this?

k so i went out and got 2 lights. they are the coil kind but alot bigger lol. they also have 2600 lummes each and 50 watts each, and are yellow-ish. willthis do the job? even if its just for flowering, but for overall 2? everyones oppinion pleace.

i have seen the T 5 in use and they rock!!! but i personaly like the hps u just have to vent it properly as far as how many plants to do it depends on the strain and what it likes, play with it
