I'm BiPolar, and found that MJ is a FAR better mood stabilizer for me than any of the damned prescriptions my shrink has put me on. When I'm manic, it brings me down enough to be able to concentrate. When I'm depressed, it brings me up enough to seperate myself from it. If I'm depressed about a particular situation, I'm still depressed, but at least I'm able to see past right now and think of possible ways to change my situation. If I'm suffering a clinical depression brought on by my illness rather than a situation, it brings me back up closer to middle ground. I've also found it to work WONDERS for me when I have an anxiety attack. My prescription anti-anxiety meds just make me go to sleep. MJ alleviates the anxiety, but still leaves me functional, and I can clean my house, cook dinner, etc. This doesn't work for everyone, though, since it affects everyone differently. My sis also has severe anxiety, but when she smokes, she gets so paranoid it only gets worse for her.

My advice, if you care...if you are trying MJ for medicinal/psychiatric use, have a trusted friend nearby the first few times. If you are depressed, there is a chance it will make you more depressed, and you'll want that friend there to help you through it.
StonerBlond74 Reviewed by StonerBlond74 on . help with depression? Hi All, My first post here. New to 420 and had a question. Does it help with mild depression? I'm usually a little depressed and was wondering if it would help. Haven't smoked yet, still looking for a connection, but wanted to know other's experiences with it, if any. I'm hoping it will help pick me up a bit. Thanks. Rating: 5
