    how do I block websites?

I was wondering if anybody can tell me how to block websites from being opened. I went into internet options, and added the domain name into "restricted sites", yet when I test-typed it in, the site still came up no problem. I also put the site name into "privacy, sites, block" in the internet options, but same problem. the only time I ever managed to do it before I actually had to set some setting where you must type in a user name and password every single time I went in to a site, which of course is a big pain. any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I was under the impression askjeeves was just another search engine. I already tried to find an answer with altavista and google.

is there something different about askjeeves?

Just edit your host file to redirect you to 127.0.0.1 when you you type in that url. It's kind of a dirty way of doing things but it works In windows the host file is located C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc there it's called hosts.

make a copy of it change the extension to .txt open it up in a text editor like notepad and have at it. like say you wanted to block out www.kazaa.com you would just add this line into your host file
127.0.0.1 www.kazaa.com that will make your computer be redirected back to your computer whenever somebody attempts to vist the kazaa website.

It works, trust me. I've had viruses use that host file to block out anti-virus websites.
