    Simplest indoor grow?

I've seen people with an entire closet covered with weed, fancy fans and bulbs and all that other technology littering the walls. I only want to grow a few plants, maybe until I find the females and just grow one of those.

Has anyone had any success with an incredibly simple indoor grow akin to a houseplant? Like just planting the seed in a small pot, sticking it in the closet, mimicking daylight with the lightswitch, and watering it when nessecary.
