They also make great lap-warmers.
Make up a suitable cage [look up websites on cavies [another name for guinea-pigs] for info] and put them out each day on the lawn with a bowl of water.
I used to have guinea-pigs some years ago, and now I wish I had done some experimenting on them, to see if how stoned they could get. My sister has some guinea-pigs, but she won't let me do so.
One day, I may get myself a pair, now that we have a lawn in the backyard.
Why a pair? They're social animals, and I found some years ago that one cavy tends to go quite nuts from sheer loneliness.
Be gentle with them, look after them as well as possible, and have fun. Just be aware that the guinea-pigs live for around twelve years, properly looked after.
Forgot to add--
I used to have a guinea pig when I was in high school that would squeak nonstop. (Didn't realize he was lonely....) Whenever I got him high was the only time that he would stop making so much noise and promptly go to sleep (didn't matter what time of the day it was.) He eventually got to the point where he would squeak really loud whenever I came home from school just so I would take him out of the cage while I smoked. If I ignored him he would run around and squeak like he had lost him mind. Guess he liked the feeling..... I miss my Alphy...... RIP.

Good pets, but make sure to get them a friend...
