judging by your handle you are well north of the equator thus will have wait until next spring, after the last frost and the ground warms up a bit before doing anything outdoors. but when you do get around to it, you can plant seed directly into the ground but they'll need some type of barricade to keep inscets off of the young sprouts. i use aluminum beverage cans with both ends cut off (a serated knife works best using the 'sawing action") then centering it over the seed and gently pushed into the ground so it stays in place. this will keep most sprout-craving animals away until the plant is big enough to not be a target for them and can be left in place throughout the plant's life.

germinate the seed inside frist. then put into a long contaner so the roots will grow deep the better the root structure the better the chances of the plant surviving outdoors then plant it directly into the ground u should prepare the holes in the fall dig them out and put good soil and drainage rocks then cover the holes with plywood with sitcks to comofluge and to protect from the winter then in the sping simply uncover ur holes and plant away
