Hey Torog, can I ask how what you see the word liberal to mean, why is it so dirty?
Secondly let me commend you for you politeness on these boards, although I tend to disagree with alot of what you say, I like how all your points are made respectfully.

Well to me the world liberal is a bit different. I live in nyc. hear we have what you call limousine liberals.
chick that married rich corporate lawyers and business men that fuck people out of money for a living so they think if they vote dem it makes up for it.
they treat middle class and working class like shit.
but if they sigh a bill to give more to the poor it makes them liberal. nice people.
the ones that put a ban on smoking in bars in nyc.
the ones that bitch when a bar opens on their block.
the ones that call the cops when people sit on their stairs
the ones that drive suv in new york city.
I don't know what happened to liberals they want to put so many labels and laws on things. how can you call yourself liberal when all you do is bitch and wine whine you don't get your way ? I don't get it .
but I guess a lot of people don't get it "hints" 8 years of bush "hints" I live in the most liberal city in the world and we are about to go 16 years with a republican mayor go figure.
as far as 9-11 you just have to be a complete brainwashed ass to think it was a inside job....liberals are starting to seem like Nazis to me. it's become a cult not a party......

i'm not a liberal...i'm not a conservative...
you have to be a complete brainwashed ass to think there are only liberals and conservatives, democrats and republicans...only 2 sides, who offer the same thing...and to think that the 19 freedom hating muslim conspiracy theory explains all of the aspects of 9/11...impossible.

I was okay untill tree hugger came into the thread, just because y'all havent gotten the message there yet, I will refrain from a six paragraph post filled with so much crap some poor stoner will start reading and completely forget what the thread was about, because the rain of abuse was so cold and brutal, okay, gravity = fact
intelligent falling(secular arguement for gravity, believe jesus is pushing) = fiction
global warming = fact

Boy howdy,I could go on at great length about liberals. Pre 60's liberals, were more pro-American,but then modern liberalism, began to raise it's ugly,politically-correct head, aided and abbetted by the CPUSA and the SPUSA(commie and socialist parties of the USA),and they saw an opportunity to begin re-writing history books and civic books, ignoring facts and replacing them with emotionally charged, political agenda's instead. For instance,I was appalled to see how the topic of slavery, during the Civil war,was the main focus for that period, and that raw facts were being ignored and that it was written to reflect a politically-correct viewpoint, that led the children into believeing that they were somehow responsible for the slavery in America, whether they were or not..the issue of States Rights, was being ignored.
Today's liberals, have become self-centered,self-absorbed and are greatly lacking in common sense,as well as little gratefulness for their many blessings..many have become slaves to their own wants and whims..and they wake each day, wondering what will their country do for them, rather than what will they do for their country. They cling selfishly to their own freedoms,hard-fought for,and deny those freedoms to others, especially if it means confronting Evil. They often loathe the military and their hatred for America, knows no bounds..they expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter, with little or no sacrifice involved,on their part. They support abortion-on-demand,because it's a convenient tool, that supports their debaucherous life-styles. Good character,is considered a flaw and a detriment to the advancement of one's wants. A belief in God,is often looked down upon and is considered an excuse to 'stop thinking',when in fact,it requires more thought to reconcile the secular world and the religious world.
Well..like I said,I could go on and on,but I've probably already said too much..lol.
Have a good one ....

Well I agree with you on some points, I would describe myself as a liberal but I think some of the things you mentioned aren't really liberal ideals. I really can't stand alot of the PC bullcrap around at the moment. People have a right to not be discriminated against but some things take it too far such as positive discrimination (where a certain percentage of jobs are allocated to certain ethnic groups to fill quotas), and for example where some schools were banned to put Christmas cards up in case they offended other religious groups.
To me the term liberal is simply the idea of tolerance, by no means does it mean taking the soft option on say criminals or generally being weak and trying to please all. Its just the belief that people in general if taught and brought up properly can often "police" themselves. Maximum freedom, minimum Government but a strong Government who will step in when needed with decisive measures.
