If the Christian Church is against gay marriage then why try and have a same-sex marriage in a Christian church? If you were black you wouldn't try and join the Ku Klux Klan, would you? That may seem completely ignorant, but I just don't believe (after much deliberation) that gay people should even want to get married in a place that forbids it. Why not just get married in a registry office or whatever you call it?
Now that is kind of a different issue. Separation of church and state! If the State/Fed decide that they want to recognize same sex marriage thats one thing as far as "benifits" are concerned. As for the Church, I believe that this should be left as to the discression of the church and their beliefs. The government can adjust laws for the beliefs of the people but has no right to change the wording of ones bible.
