    question about cooling the light.....

I'm sure this has been encountered by just about everyone, but I really am looking for a better way to cool off my 1000w hps vented hood w/glass. I have the vortex which puts out I think about 460 cfm. Its very strong and I have short duct running through the light and then directly outside with no major turns. But, the glass is hot as hell, and I can't seem to get my buds off the damn light. I only have 3 weeks left of flowering and my buds are being smoked before I even get them off the plant. I've tied back, tied down, raised the light (which is 8 foot high) to its max. Any ideas, the room is only 80 F, but the glass is probably like 130 F.

    question about cooling the light.....

First off Gongrats on your tall budding gals !!
Your main concern is getting those cola tops away
from the surface of the glass.
so at this point, the stretch will stop and the buds
get fatter. I was in your same situation last crop.
What I did was hung "S" hooks on the string
tying down the colas, which pulled them down just
enough not get the sun burn.
Perhaps that can work, good luck.

I assume you can't raise the light? You may need a blower moving the air around the tube. If you are using A/C you can try using a vent tube mounted infront of the A/C blower to use chilled air to move through your light. That's if you are not using CO² because that would draw the extra CO² from the room.

    question about cooling the light.....

One thing you might try is removing the glass and letting that Vortex do some more sucking than it is thru those tubes all by itself.

If you can get suction from outside the bulb, that might lower the temps considerably.

Of course that doesnt address your plant height which sounds like the real problem.
