the question of the Nod
here is the scenerio, you are walking along and are passing people on the street.
total stangers every one,
some people you meet eyes with and nod too,
some your speak too,
some you ignore.
is this not some form of basic judgement upon looks?
i've thought alot about this and it seems to me in most cases one person decides to nod and the other one agree's this person is worth a nod.
so they pass aknowledge eachs existance and go on.
some speak and you reply (or you speak and they do)and forget them soon after.untill/unless you see them agian.
some you see, but dont see, becuase one glimpse tells your eyes to look away,
you walk on totally igorning that a person is there.usually they know your doing this and do the same,How?
i want ya think about those you nod to.why them?
what type do you totally ignore, why them?
and those you actually speak too.
and especialy those you speak first too.
notice them and you will learn alot about yourself that you dont know right now,we all chose who we nod to for a reason.NowhereMan Reviewed by NowhereMan on . the nod' the question of the Nod here is the scenerio, you are walking along and are passing people on the street. total stangers every one, some people you meet eyes with and nod too, some your speak too, some you ignore. is this not some form of basic judgement upon looks? i've thought alot about this and it seems to me in most cases one person decides to nod and the other one agree's this person is worth a nod. so they pass aknowledge eachs existance and go on. I'm a chain smoker, so I'm always out and about, so people aknowledge me because they see me around. I've met some of my best friends this way, and it's fun to watch the evolution of this kind of relationship.
I don't judge on looks, per se, but their degree of how pissed off they look. Some people just don't look friendly, so they can fell the burn of my non-aknowledgement.

that is a very good point....id never really thought about people i nod to...normally they nod to me first, and if they do i will nearly always give a nod back. Unless i want them to know i am not going to acknowledge them.
It happens with people i have only met once before and people i know but havent seen in years.
Its strange though because thinking about it now....i never nod to someone first i suppose its through fear of not getting a nod back...but i will actually try and do the "nod" first from now on.
I also think that i judge people alot on looks...which is a bit hypocritical of me seeing as i hate people who do that...but i suppose its because people have done it to me in the past and now i am wary of people who dont show some sort of diversity...for example chavs...even though i know some chavs and they are sound alone but its when they are in groups that i will get ignored...which i dont care about really...well maybe a little but i would prefere not to associate myself with those types of people.

i always try and nod or smile at people, because if they nod or smile back, then you know youve made a connection to them. And making connections with people is important, especially these days when theres so much anger and hatred everywhere.
it always feels good if youve made one person smile in a day, as corny as that sounds.

Z dude only u can thing of something this random.....reading it...u have a point. Why do we nod to some ppl and not to others.....and im thinking of those i do nod to and those u dont.
You no wen u no someone by face but not by name...u never talk to them but u see them in the store every week, or on the bus same time everyday....i guess those r who i nod to...coz i acknowledge them.
But sayin that if i go for a smoke...i usually go for a long walk as well....if i pass ppl i usually smile at them or nod, so im guessing its just a natural reaction you have someone u pass on the same side of the pavement.
Ummm imi tlkin bollx now..im just gonna go smoke and off to bedWe tease the ones we love

Awesome post, Z!
I used to try and nod, smile or say hello to everyone... but alas, not many people return the gesture. I've never been able to understand this, but alot of people are actually scared of somebody who greets strangers, even with just a nod.
When i'm out and about (and usually stoned) I like to just watch people and draw my own conclusions about them based on what you see.
Alot of people are stressed out, they hurry around with a frown on their face, and pay no attention to their surroundings - if you nod to these people they usually won't notice you.
Some people are just mean or unfriendly, and if you nod to them they just give you a wierd look or frown at you.
Some people are nervous or anxious and will often nod back at you but in a uncomfortable, self-conscious kind of way.
And of course, some people are just nice, friendly people who will always nod back, or even say hi.
Me and a friend, when walking around stoned, used to say hi to literally everyone we walked passed, just to see how they would react. It still fascinates me that society has dictated that it's slightly odd to smile, nod or say hello to another person walking down the street, just because you don't know them. So I think for those of us who do nod to people, that there are some people who we will ignore because we know that to them, nodding at a stranger is weird, or that they won't like it.

i usually nod back if someones nods first. Most the people that nod to me are rocker/punk type people. So i nod back to them. I guess in a way its more of their whole appearance, then just their looks(when i think of looks i just think of faces)
oh and i nod whatever way the other ppl nod. I usually dont nod to people...because wth?why would i want to? lol i dont know why anyone deciedes to nod to me?
