I think race is not the primary issue. The most important thing here is poverty. Who cares about people who don't pay a lot of taxes, who make cities look 'ugly'? Not Bush... The big misfortune is that a vast majority of poor people are also black, which makes it easy to say that Bush doen't like black people. The reality is, and has always been, the powerful don't like the poor and the weak, unless they're looking to recruit some soldiers....
I think racism is one of the underlying causes of poverty, so to me, yes, racism is a big issue, when blacks and other minorities cant into college, cant get jobs, and get singled out by police. Of course Bush doesnt like black people. Have people forgotten Trent Lott's comments? And of course congress is mostly white. That doesnt help either. You cant just point out poverty and not explain why so many blacks are poor.
