Who will strike first, Iran or Israel?

Israel and Iran traded significantly escalated threats of military attacks during recent months.

The dispute between the two states over nuclear activities has escalated, with Israeli officials threatening Iran with preemptive military strike if it didn??t give up its nuclear activities on one hand, and other officials in Tehran warning of striking back strongly if the country??s nuclear facilities were attacked on the other.

I'm betting that Israel takes out their enrichment facilities. Hopefully not, but I bet they do!!

Who will strike first, Iran or Israel?

I voted Israel, a country I think is screwed in the long run. When World War III breaks out, I think it will be China/North Korea versus the United States/Taiwan/South Korea/Japan, Israel versus a whole bunch of Muslim countries, and possibly India versus Pakistan. As the US will be preoccupied with China (and the Chinese nuclear arsenal), it will not be able to come to Israel's rescue as it is dogpiled by its neighbors. And who's to say the Israelis won't launch some of those nukes as they're going down?

They already have that one in the planner!!

As the hordes of invading troops still threaten to overrun Israel, the Israelis will likely opt to exercise their military strategy known as the "Sampson Option." This is a contingency plan drafted by Israel after their War of 1973, when a surprise attacked by Arab nations on the Day of Atonement nearly resulted on the unprepared, outnumbered Jews being overrun by much greater Arab armies.

So prime minister Golda Meier and her war ministers passed a desperate plan ordering that any future Israeli government that sees enemy armies overwhelming their soldiers by sheer numbers, that government must resolve to unleash Israel's considerable arsenal of nuclear weapons against the invading nation's major cities. They called this desperate tactic the "Sampson Option" after their Biblical strongman Sampson.

    Here's another one on it!

As Hersh has documented??and Israeli historian Avner Cohen has confirmed it in even more detail in his own book, Israel and the Bomb??Israel??s entire national defense policy (from its inception) was framed around the development of powerful nuclear bombs. As Hersh makes clear, the Israelis are willing, if necessary, to ??blow up the world???including themselves??if they have to do so in order to defeat their Arab foes.

The so-called ??Samson Option? for Israel is based on the well-known story of Samson in the Bible, who??after being captured by the Philistines??brought down Dagon??s temple in Gaza and killed himself along with a number of Philistines. As Hersh put it: ??For Israel??s nuclear advocates, the Samson Option became another way of saying ??Never Again??.?

Israel has balls, Iran hides behind its oil. Israel has the excellent intelligence agency also, so they would have a warning most likely if Iran was gona try anything.

Screwed in the long run? That would be something to see, especially considering the billions upon billions of dollars we give to the country, because its fullfilling our strategic interests. I think right now Isreal is in pretty good shape. We'll always come to Isreal's rescue-do you realize how many Israeli lobby groups there are in the US?

This whole Taiwan situation is really unstable, and I think it could very well eventually lead to a nuclear exchange between China and the US, if China decides to assert its claim to the island militarily and the US counter-attacks. Taiwan is a very strategic island, economically, and I don't think the US would let China have it without a fight. How much would the US be able to help Israel then?

I'm not saying that the US would let China have Tawian without a fight, just that we will always help out Isreael should the need arise. Isreral is kind of like a military outpost of the US, and we're more than willing to conduct simultaneous military operations should the need arise, especially when it involves the Middle East (oil). And should China attack the US with a nuclear arsenal, and if other muslim countries began attacking Isreal at the same time for whatever reason (a lot of ifs in your doomday scenario), and we drop a couple of our own nuclear bombs on China in retaliation (we still have a bigger nuclear arsenal with more destructive weapons), who is to say we wouldnt drop more on other countries if Israel actually needs help? Of course, if the American Empire becomes a nuclear wastland, then there wont be a "we" to help out Israel, then I see your point.
