And as far as stereotyping goes, most of the french people I met while on vacation there numerous times were surpisingly pleasant, provided I at least attempted to speak french. The only time I got rude reply's were when we acted like stupid Americans and yelled at em for not speaking english. On the same hand, immigrants piss me off in the US who refuse to learn english, if I was in your country I expect to speak YOUR language, not mine.

In other words they helped put George W Bush, into power. Now George W started the war on Iraq and as everyone knows, the French were dead against going to war on that country.
