cooling methods
I have a small glass chillum, and the problem is it's so short with no carb that the smoke is extremely harsh. At least, moreso than I'm used to. Any ideas on cooling methods? I figure sticking it in the freezer will work, but does anyone have any semi-permanent solutions or tips?

I would advise freezing your bowl. If you bring a direct flame up to it, it may crack from the sudden change in temperature.

Put it in the fridge for about 10 minutes, dont freeze it becuase like Rapmaster said it will shatter FOR SURE if you change the temp that rapidly. also its a chillum right? so what i do with chillums is bend a coat hanger (or long paper clip) and make a little handle type thing

Matter of technique.
Pull your tongue up a bit when you take a hit so ash and some of the heat is absorbed before the smoke gets to your throat. And also hold the smoke in your mouth before inhaling all the way to cool it down a bit.
