I did a research paper for a class last year comparing and contrasting the short and long term effects of marijuana and LSD. Basically, it came from various medical publications and books on the subject published in 2004.

His points were its addictive, it leads to other drugs, and its bad for your brain. When I asked him to elaborate he made some vague references to THC receptors in your brain getting stretched or moved apart. I don't remember his exact wording, but the essence was cannabis after long term use changes your brain resulting in longer distances for information (or possibly neurons) having to travel.
