I think only here in America and Canada and Europe do teenagers go through the "rebellious" and "moody" stages. yeah, hormones have a lot to do it, but if you look at teenagers in a lot of other countries, they're expected to be adults when they hit 13. If you're a girl in India who is 14, married, has three kids, has to tend to the fields and cook three meals a day, you're probably not the kind of teenager we see here who goes to the mall everyday looking for prom a dress and gossiping about whos the most popular this week. Some of the teenagers I've gotten to know in India are so mature mentally its unbelievable that they're still just kids. The kind of teenagers we talk about here are just another sad byproduct of suburbia.
