Somthing strange on my computer...

My Documents, Programe Files and the Windows folders have taken up aprox 45GB of memory....i have an 80GB hard drive.....I have 1.62GB free memory left....does anyone know where the other 30GB would have dissapeared to?

1) Dont confuse memory and hard drive space
2) Do the disk clean up thing (cleanmgr from the run prompt)
3) Check the properties of the folders in the My Docs and Prog Files folders. Find any big ones? well, if its in M Docs, ask yourself if you can delete it, or if Prog Files, uninstall it if not essential
4) Do a search on files >10mb (for example, more if you want). Delete the non essential big ones.

Make sure you're folders are set to show hidden files (Tools>Folder Options>View>Show hidden files and folders) and run a program like SpyBot Search and Destroy.

That's what I was going to suggest. Maybe somebody has downloaded a crap load of porn on your pc (a brother maybe?) and hidden it.

Try going through every folder in My Documents and seeing what you don't need. Delete it. Do the same for the Program Files folder, but make sure to leave it alone if you don't know what it is... or search on Google to find out. Run AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy, and trying searching for and downloading some reg tools.

Is your Recycling Bin empty? You wouldn't see those files in Explorer. You can also use Search to search for files larger than a value you specify (i.e all files bigger than 100MB), making it easy to find large files.
