Lighting Upgrade Ques........
I'm going to be upgrading my grow light and was wondering if i am going to be making the right decision on it. I'm thinking of getting a lighting system from P.L. Lighting. 400w HPS with a deep reflector and an air-cooled housing. Does anyone think this would be good or is their something better out there that i might not have found? Zandor, latewood, HARDON, stormcooker? What do you think? HAPPY GROWIN!!!!!!!!!1

Lighting Upgrade Ques........
Well that depends on your growspace, and how many plants you want to grow in it. Any larger than 4' x 4' and I would go with a 1000W. It's only an extra $50 - $100 for the 1000W. I'm not sure, but I think you can also get a 1000W ballast and reflector and run a 400W bulb in it if you want that security in knowing you have extra power if needed. The air-cooled reflectore are ALWAYS a great idea and I would pay extra for it anytrime. Hell, I run an exhaust fan for my 250W HPS reflector. Anything I can do to keep my girls happy and healthy.

My grow space will be 3' x 3'. Hey stormcooker your girls are coming along great. Do you mean to tell me that all you did was follow the nutrient guide or weekly feeding program with flora series nutrients? Well not all you did but as far as the nutes go?

Puff, I would suggest getting 2 HID lights, 1:1 - MH : HPS. I would use the MH for veg and the HPS for flower, Get either or in 400-600w. Once your girl starts rooting, I would suggest giving her a blast of 5-1-1 every now and than.

I'm not sure puffy, but I think the Flora Nova series is made for cannabis in hydro. Their marketing style for this product is awfully similar to cannabis made nutrients, and it combines chemical and organic compounds which the plants thrive on. My recomendation to you if you decide to follow their charts, is to use about 2/3rds or 3/4ths the recomended strength measurements they publish. After I mix it all together in their published "recipes", I get pretty high PPM's upwards of around 1800 and I start off with reverse osmosis water. That may be too high for some strains, and it's always better in my opinion to have too little than too much. I'm experiencing a slight burn right now, although it may be too much CO2 which I inject steadily during lights on.
I remember now reading a thread by Zandor about the usage of Cal-Mag if you use reverse osmosis water. Since RO water contains almost zero PPM, their is a lack of Calcium and Magnesium that can be combated with the addition of Cal-mag. Tha's just what I read though and I gave it a shot.
I use Hygrozyme because it claims to be "Bigger, Faster, Stronger". I have heard good things about it, it's not cheap, which to me means it's got to do SOMETHING. You can see a lot of root activity with it, like a lot of "exfoliating" of old root matter. One thing to know is, with the addition of all these advanced supplements and additives, things can go as horribly wrong as easy as things going wonderfully well. Some supplements don't mix well, and counteract each other. Some supplements create a very unstable ph and sometimes the addition of something extra, may create a defeciency in something else. Just go easy with everything, and don't take chances.
I like the Flora feed charts becuse they are tested and true.\"Smoke and a pancake? Bong and a blintz?
