I agree with you 100% there! I saw the same thing on the news last night, and said the exact same thing. My roomates aren't ones for, serious discussion, but that is what I thought to myself. People are dying, and what, they are going to sell a TV or DVD player for money or something? 80% of your city is underwater you fuckin idiots, it's useless!

They'd rather have material things than save lives, and their own lives for that matter. Disgusting if you ask me. It's too bad about N.O.'s, but com'on, get your heads out of asses and focus on the main problem.
